Jazz is a sleeper threat right now, if we pull out a clean win - that would definitely put me at ease (for now)

Right now feels like the league has leveled off on the haves and the have nots. This will adjust eventually. But really strange now. Rockets have to hope they can stay at .500 until they get their continuity.

"Are we just gonna ignore how much the 4th game will tell us about the season?"

Yes. It is the 4th game.
And we're minus CP3, still incorporating new players, still figuring out rotations and minutes. It won't even tell us what to expect in the 5th game, much less the season. You know what does tell you what to start to expect for the season? The first 1/4 of the season (20 games). Then the next 1/4. Then the next 1/4.

So, maybe not 'ignore', but understand what it is. Fun to watch. Fun to talk about. But, if we win, does that makes us western conference champions? No. If we lose, does that mean we're not doin' nothin' this year? No. It just adds 1 to either the win or the loss column, and the season goes on, as scheduled.

    https://www.chron.com/sports/rocket...tresses-patience-as-Rockets-work-13334159.php

As much as the Rockets might not have anticipated the slow start to the season, it is not difficult to explain. Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni, speaking before the Rockets faced the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, said that the changes in the rotation with new players, injuries and Chris Paul's suspension have led the Rockets to "almost have to rebuild the team. We have to rebuild to where we were last year. It takes patience."

Though D'Antoni said the Rockets needed to play with greater or more consistent energy and intensity, the process of becoming instinctive with schemes has slowed reaction time, especially defensively.

"As always, it's a little bit of everything. It's a little bit of that, little bit of this," D'Antoni said. "We have to do a better job of concentrating and getting that mental edge we don't have yet. A lot of getting that mental edge. We have a lot of guys trying to figure out roles. When you are figuring anything out, you are not just reacting and playing. When you try to think, your basketball IQ goes down. You are not reacting to the situation. It's just a matter of time. We have to work through it.

"We have to fight through a lot of stuff. We're still building. We're still trying to integrate different people. Nene being out hasn't helped any. Three or four new guys in there with a couple rookies (Gary Clark and Isaiah Hartenstein) is different from where we ended up last year. We're one of the older teams but mentally we're one of the younger teams."

In the first game of Paul's suspension on Sunday, the Rockets played five players from last season's team and five new players.

No one is stupid enough to think that Game 4 of a regular season game will tell you how a season will play out

k, lets just wait 20 games into the season before anyone panics. Then at least we'll know we aren't getting that 1st seed this year.

I expect GSW, rockets, jazz, pelicans, spurs and Lakers to all be in the playoffs. You want to have home court against many of those teams.

Need about 50+ wins to be top 4 in the West and about 65 to be top 2. Slow start to the season makes achieving it more challenging and the West is challenging enough as is. Need to get on a winning streak soon. Won't be bad idea to start in utah

One thing that is obvious about this team after 4 games - the defense is atrocious.
