I'm actually surprised Tyler is in the bullpen. Haven't really scrubbed the numbers, but wasn't he one of their most dominant starters this year?
He was in a similar situation as McCullers. Injured and just getting back. Not quite stretched out enough to start.
His leg was fractured in August when he was hit by a line drive. He pitched a couple times at the end of the season but only got up to 50 pitches. It's possible he could start game 4 still, but with the Indians facing elimination they will use him in game 3 if they need him.
He's out there throwing the game for the Indians because 1) he lives in Houston and 2) made those comments because he is envious he doesn't play for Houston.
Lost in all the Tyler and Bregman drama, is the quiet yet satisfied Cole and his rivalry with that little punk. Coles team sweeps and he had a great game with 12Ks. Tyler really does bring things on himself.
You have to be careful not to arm your opponent with emotional ammunition, and careless words aimed at a opposing team do just that.
