As our recent presidential elections would suggest, the less input the general public has in decision making, the better it is for whatever you are trying to run.

People are stupid. A person can be smart, but people never are.

The only teams that can do better with fans making the decisions are the Suns, Kings and Magic at this point. Maybe also the Wizards.

Don't forget the Timberpups and possibly the Knicks though I've liked their drafts lately.

Edit: And the Bulls just gave Lavine that ridiculous contract and signed Jabari Parker for 20 million, so...

He gives away decision making power every day when he makes decisions based on data.

It would be a stupid idea unless they only include elite fans who subscribe to newsletters.

You are glamorizing 'decisions by crowd-sourcing"

This might be a good idea for running ESPN though.

So, you’re saying he should fire his analytics department since they make all the decisions for him, and replace them with ... mass consciousness.

Bad example IMO. So if by chance you happen to know the cousin of the daughter of the friend of the godfather of a player, and somehow some inside information about said player happens to land on your lap and you share it, your opinion matters? Regardless of your actual knowledge about basketball or sports business in general? Luck over knowledge? What if you are the guy that thinks trading Capela for Maker is a good idea and you actually have a say on it because you got lucky with some random info in the past?

Maybe there are better examples you can make where this idea could be applied, that one is not it.

Test run a version with the NFL's GreenBay Packers - they're a publicly owned team...

If, as a GM, I found an actual fan-driven franchise, I would trade with it as often as possible.

And you want to replace hard data with....... Fan speculation?

Out of the tens of thousands of fans, maybe there are a handful that are intelligent, thoughtful, impartial, useful. So a better idea would be to hire among those select few guys instead?

Then if you're gonna hire , might as well get the smartest guy out of the group and put him in charge. Make him the manager and have the other guys work under him. Wait a second.....

Most of the people on this board would probably be more confused, to be honest. Ironically, we might make poor decisions with all the information at our disposal.

Fans should co-own the practice facility which ought to be upgraded. That about it.

Not one Clutchfan would have passed over Rashard Lewis three times for the likes of Bryce Drew and Mirsad Turckan.
