I was wondering what the delay means for us. We already made our offer and probably won’t improve it. It gives Minny time to shop it around and see if they can do better. But for how long?
unfortunately, superteams are in the league's best interest revenue-wise. so both of your excellent proposed amendments would probably get pushback from the league office
Morey probably makes 5 offers every day before breakfast. The fact that we made an offer doesn't reveal anything. One of the rumors around here from Cod or cyberx was that he made multiple offers and told Minnesota to choose between them. Probably something like: Gordon, Nene & 2 1st or Gordon, Zhou, filler & a 1st or Gordon, Nene, a first and facilitate Dieng to a 3rd team with a first Basically a bunch of similar offers that Minnesota can evaluate based on preference. Minnesota would probably counter with: Gordon, Zhou, filler, 2 1st and faciliate Dieng to a 3rd team with another 1st To which Morey might offer an additional 2nd on his initial offer or maybe the rights to Llull.
The fake news tweets are starting to ramp up right now. Butler was sighted in Toronto, Minnesota, and Miami at the same time.
Tilman don't want butler. Butler's max costs him extra $75 million before repeater taxes. Gordon/2 picks/trade exception for Butler.
I honestly don’t get this. Why would Gordon all of the sudden take a step forward in consistency? Ego isn’t on Butler’s level on either end of the floor, and he doesn’t come close to having the type of impact that Jimmy Butler can have on a team. If Morey acquires Butler while only having to give up Eric Gordon and filler than he has another EOY award on lock. CP3 Harden Butler Tuck Capela that is an amazing starting lineup (4 great defenders and Harden who puts in the effort, and 3 guys who can all create off the dribble), and then u use Melo as your official 6th man which is the role he’s best suited for at this stage of his career...Melo could win 6MOY we’ve essentially replaced Ariza with Jimmy Butler (consistent 20 ppg scorer who also plays D at an All-Defense caliber level), and Ego’s scoring off the bench with Melo in the past 2 seasons we were 11-2 in games Ariza scored at least 20 points...well Jimmy can do that every night and provides better defense...u kick the ball out to him and he can actually create for himself and others at a high level I don’t think Morey would be putting effort into acquiring Butler if Tilman is planning to be stingy with his next contract
Keep that same energy KAT. Wolves hold first practice without Butler but with 'a lot of love for each other' Amid the ongoing Jimmy Butler trade saga, the Timberwolves held their first practice of the season Tuesday without the All-Star guard, who is officially away from the team while he rehabilitates a surgically repaired right wrist and the Wolves field trade calls for him. "We're out here playing the game of basketball with a lot of love for each other, and we had a great day of practice," center Karl-Anthony Towns said. Jimmy Butler didn’t fly with Wolves after playoff elimination According to a report from Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, after the Houston Rockets eliminated the Timberwolves in the first round of the 2018 playoffs, Butler did not fly with the team back to Minnesota and took a flight to Los Angeles instead. Butler also refused to do the standard medical exam all players go through as part of their exit interviews.
Minny is stupid here. They were in a bad position to begin with and they didn't use their only leverage, information. Time isn't their friend. They had each team's best offer and teams had a fear of being beaten to the deal. This goes back to getting an offer you like and not taking it because you want to hear all offers. When you let a market simmer like this the market doesn't let the seller have that market. It colludes to reduce the offers and do side deals until some jag off like OKC comes in later and gets the deal offering 51 cents. Thibs comes back with this stupid star, young starter, and pick demand and the teams out there know what is being offered and feel more confident in holding out because he has to trade. By not being sincere in negotiations he loses the ability to up any real offer and make a deal. Eventually, Taylor through Layden is going to make a deal. In the meantime, teams talk to one another. Sometimes eight interested teams isn't as good as two desperate ones. That fear is gone, especially when teams are bringing deals to an owner because they have no respect for you.
