Not sure about media narrative but fan narrative will be how life is totally unfair. After the last trade where we got rid of Anderson for some scrubs I peeped over at realgm. Lots of salty posters wondering how we fleeced them...the rich get richer wah wah wahh lol...it wasn't even a lopsided trade.

 

Build around KAT to contend when he enters his prime in 5 or so years.

 

Why would you even do this thread? Butler stated he is seeking max, to get that he has to be traded to a team who will be able to do that next year... So the question which I am sure OP thought about is, can we afford another super max contract on the roster?

 

All depends on whether both of these happen:
1) If we can trade our 2021 pick in the 2020 offseason.
2) We have gotten rid of Gordon + Tucker in the trade for Butler.

It will be easy to dump Knight's expiring contract + our 2021 pick in summer 2020, allowing us to manage the contracts of Paul, Harden, Butler and Capela surrounded by vet min players, partial MLE players and 2nd round picks. Will be expensive, but worth it if you ask me. The risk that needs to be addressed with that team is the inability to retain role players around those guys for more than 1 good year at a time. Any minimum contract player walks if he has a good season and that makes the team a little bit inconsistent.
