How realistic is it that DeMarre Carroll gets bought out this season?

    Is that a real possibility? Seems like the perfect fit... but is it realistic? Would he be the best buyout candidate?

    Are there any potential playoff teams that still have the MLE available like the Rockets?

    Getting DeMarre Carroll for the MLE without having to make a trade to give up anyone seems like the absolute best case scenario for the Rockets this year. Is there a better option?

    Lowe's thoughts from last month: “I don’t think the Nets are dying to buy out DeMarre Carroll, they like him, a great locker room guy for them last year. They also sold the idea when they acquired him of, ‘yes, we paid $31 million for a bad pick, which became the 29th pick, but we believe we can rehabilitate his trade value down the line and flip him for positive value down the line.’ I don’t think that is going to happen at this point. And I can see everyone [in Brooklyn] agreeing, ’hey we stink again because we haven’t had a draft pick in 17 years and you want to play for a contender, let’s make it happen.’”

    Also in the article: Carroll seems happy in Brooklyn. He’s a big fan of the performance team and coaching staff after they helped him reinvigorate his career, and he’s carved out a great role as mentor for the younger set, particularly D'Angelo Russell.

    I'd say more chance that he gets bought out than Ariza lol

    Nets might still keep him but who knows, this season they'll have their 1st round pick back so, it's pretty much a given they're going to tank in the second part of the season, i wouldn't be shocked to see them buy him out and give more minutes to their young players.

    the only issue with that is that they dont have a wing player waiting to be developed that carroll is taking minutes from haha

    Last year, we did nothing at buyout. I love "young player buyout" a lot.

    I have no idea if he will be bought out, but a " young player buyout" is rather unusual. However, it is possible that some good player might be bought out. Morey got Josh Smith, let's hope for the best. He has the MLE to use, in that case.

    Well, they just drafted and signed both Musa and Kurucs, both are wings...not sure if they have other young players to develop in that spot but, yeah...

    Joe Johnson was bought out and the Rockets signed him. He was not a useful player for the Rockets, but they didn't do nothing.

    Brandan Wright was also bought out I believe.

    Maybe him and Ariza are bought out. The Rockets could cut MCW and Hartenstein to make room.
