I would prefer EG continue as 6th man with starter minutes, but given his rumored desire to start and our current roster construction, I would bet that he starts.
Regular season roatation is much less important than postseason. Same applies to who starts around big 3 - Harden, Paul, Capela. Start best 5 for all I care, regular season is for experimenting anyway. Harden/Green Paul/Knight/MCW EGo/Ennis/VE Melo/Tucker/Bruno/Clark Capela/Chriss/Nene/Qi/Hartenstein
It depends on Brandon Knight vs Gerald Green. Whichever plays better defense will determine how the rotation goes. If Knight is playing better, then we will have Gordon defending SG's and Harden guarding the weaker forward and Tucker guarding the better forward. It is easier for Harden to guard bigger players and on offense Harden is Harden regardless of position. Will cause a bit of a nightmare for opponents because it will force them to go small or have Harden abuse a bigger defender. If Green is playing better, we will keep Gordon on 2nd unit and give Green some burn behind Ennis.
I'm thinking Tucker gets the starting SF spot and EGO continues to come off the bench. Very solid until the sixth man, better than last year even. The rest of the rotation is a full of questions that won't be answered until the season gets underway.
What's the point? His skill set is redundant with Harden and Paul. Just come off the bench to let one of those 2 rest.
Here are some of the reasons that I think Gordon will start. - The Rockets outscored opponents by a pretty big margin when they played Paul, Harden and Gordon together last year. Pretty sure their best line up included those three so why not start them? - IF melo come off of the bench and IF knight comes back healthy and in shap, then they have plenty of play making off of the bench. - IF Green continues to shoot and hit his “F YOU!!” 3 pointers, then the Rockets have a great shooter coming off of the bench. - IF Ennis is a defensive stud like they say he is, then you have a lock down defender coming off of the bench. - MD is only going to play 9 players regular minutes and a bench of Knight, Green, Ennis and Melo is well balanced and difficult for other teams 2nd unit to math up with.
he usually comes in like 3 minutes into the game anyway, and he finishes games, so what's the difference
It's kind of weird to me how much importance people place on the starter role. It seems to me that how many minutes a player gets is much more important than whether they are a "starter". If Gordon plays as many minutes as the starting small forward, that's every bit as important whether he comes off the bench or not. I'd also add that it seems like being on the court for the final four minutes of a game is much more important than being on the floor as the game begins too.
