sudan archives - heard a song from this one-woman band on the radio last week and have been listening to a lot since then.

dirty projectors-esque glitchy r&b / hip-hip. she also plays a bunch of east african stringed instruments and incorporates them into the music.

    0:00 - God's monkey
    6:43 - Brightness falls
13:17 - Every colour you are
    19:06 - Jean the Birdman
    23:15 - Firepower
    30:29 - Damage
    35:00 - Gone to Earth
    37:34 - 29th Century Dreaming
    45:32 - Wave
    51:54 - Riverman
56:56 - Blinding Light of Heaven
    1:01:37 - The first Day

    Every colour... echoing forbidden colours.

David Sylvian is such an interesting character as a musician. Robert Fripp... well, nothing more to say!

Here's a bit neurotic version of "Gone to Earth" from the 1986 album. Just brilliant!

Weren't we talking about what a deceptively good band A Flock of Seagulls was/is a while back?

    "Wu-tang Forever"
The mid 90s was not only the golden era for hip-hop; it was also the reawakening of the "double LP", a feat only for the virtuosos like The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix's electric ladyland, Pink Floyd's the wall, Led Zeppelin's physical graffiti, Grease:the soundtrack, Tupac all eyez on me and Biggie's life after death.
For The Wu to release a Double LP only spoke to their resiliency. Wu Tang Forever stays true to the Hun and Po of ancient Chinese philosophy, dualism.
My favorite song in the entire album, "Reunited" was synced to a live classical instrument in Studio by Karen Briggs. the violin in this track was played with such anger and poor technique on purpose, at the same time it's peaceful and disciplined.

I fear our children will never know the sadness of having cds scratched beyond recognition from listening to it excessively. I must have ordered this Double LP around 3 times from BMG, counting as 2 selections each.

"How can I put it? Life is like video footage
Hard to edit, directors, that never understood it
I'm too impulsive, my deadly corrosive dosage
Attack when you least notice through explosive postage."

    Peace to the gods!

Everything about Liz Fraser here is uplifting and comforting, visually and acoustically.

I listen to this, and I think maybe the genre has simply run its course. The quality of today rap's music is so far removed from that which you posted, it's depressing. I guess the same thing happens to every genre, and you eventually arrive at the lowest common denominator. First came Nirvana and then came Creed. At some point the music-listening public caught on that Creed sucks. Unfortunately, rock never fully recovered. Still waiting for the masses to wake up one day and realize the majority of the rap music they've been listening to has aged like fine milk.
