Does "biggest enemy" and "biggest threat" mean the same thing? "Enemy" implies that they have a desire to hurt you. Global warming is a threat, a huge one, but not an enemy. The mass news media is a threat if it doesn't do its job correctly. But it doesn't make sense to refer to the media, as a whole, as the enemy. Donald Trump is absolutely a threat. Not sure about enemy. Putin is a threat, and quite likely an enemy to American interests in many respects. Not so simple a question.
Right now, it's none of the above. The Republican party is the correct answer. The Republican party is doing nothing while the lunatic, they created, is systematically destroying our institutions, our alliances, our infrastructure, basically everything.
45 and the republican party have done nothing to make the country stronger they have just divided it.
As far as China is concerned, we need to stop letting them come over her only to go to our Universities.
I disagree. Donald Trump is a symptom. He is a crusty yellow pus filled boil caused by a greater problem. People do not think for themselves or analyze their own points of view but they will gobble up talking points, whataboutism, gotcha moments, Facebook memes and vomit back their spoon fed bullshit and nonsense at anyone who disagrees with them. Empathy, intellectual honesty, kindness, nuanced opinions and self awareness are pushed aside in favor of fear, xenophobia and good ole stubbornness. People don't like to listen to media sources or opinions that do not align with their beliefs because it makes them feel bad or stupid so they cover their ears and stick to the ones that they agree with. I hate to say that people need to "wake up" but I feel like everyone needs to stop and think about how their opinions and principles are manipulated by external forces. I also think it is human nature for people to behave this way because it seems things have always been this way. The world would be a much better place if everyone would be a little more self aware, kind and empathetic to other people that they do not know or understand. I don't know ... maybe I let Mr. Rogers manipulate my own principles a little too much.
People. The American people. Not half of it, but significant enough portion of it. Trump is a reflection of who we are.
Not enemy but what hurts American the most atm are Trump supporters / hard right supporters. This group needs to get back to hard work ethic and moral reform and believe in education / science to not only help get America on the right track but for the betterment of themselves. Trump is just a consequence of middle American culture degenerating and all of their agendas are basically scapegoats for their own failings.
I add in religious folks walking the path of immoral, thinking they will have moral. I don't think that will work out in the long run.
