Fact: Hakeem wasn't hurt for 8 years before playing in the NBA. Fact: Capela > Embiid. Fact: Embiid's move is called the Dream Fake.
Hakeem movements are fluid though no comparison at all. Yes he copy some of his moves but the speed and fluidity of Hakeem movements can’t be compared.
It is nice to see Embiid incorporating some of Hakeem's moves. Hakeem is the master, and Embiid is the pupil. No one does it better than Hakeem.
Come on man. Clint can't do any of those moves. He can't even hit a free throw. Clint is more of a Mutombo than Dream.
Embiid does have one advantage over Dream. He's a lot longer than Dream was so he can pretty shoot over anyone in the NBA.
It’s the sublties in Hakeem’s game that make him separate from the pack. Moving his shoulder an inch in either direction had the defender shifting the wrong way because Hakeem went to either hand with such grace, class and skill. Not to mention how incredibly dominant he was defensively.
I think when it's all said and done, Embiid will be to Hakeem what Kobe is to Jordan. Mirror images, the same player essentially, but one is just on THAT level.
Embiid doesn't have it yet. He can copy the moves, but the thing about Hakeem was how well he transitioned from one move to the next seamlessly. If Embiid was anywhere near Hakeem's level, he'd be on ESPN more often than LeBron James. Fun to watch, but he's no Hakeem. Here's to his progress though.
Embiid is still years behind Hakeem's footwork and the worst part is Embiid has basically stopped following in Hakeem's footsteps. He shoots way too many 3s and has fallen in love with the jumper even though he's not efficient at it. Also, Hakeem's defense is way superior to Embiid's. It's sad that in this era of bball, you can just be a shell of Hakeem and you can be called the NBA's best center. If Hakeem played in this era, he'd be called the GOAT.
uh... Nah. The only other big man I've seen on Hakeem's level, purely athletically, maybe David Robinson or Amare Stoudemire. Athletically speaking, Hakeem may be the most uniquely gifted sportsman of any sport, ever, all-time. Pro Basketball in general is at the pinnacle of what human athleticism can do... His combination of length, quickness, strength, agility, coordination and endurance combined with health is unprecedented and may well never occur again. Hakeem is truly a once in a lifetime player, he may be a one time ever player. Oh, and then besides him being a black, Islamic immigrant in a time and place where "identities" weren't celebrated... Oh, and then besides him doing this in the golden age of basketball... Oh, and besides his all-time stature on either end of the court...
