Melo is at pretty good odds to initially be the starting SF. It is feasible that he may come off the bench but he will have a gordon Role meaning he will still get 25-30 mins slotting in at SF and PF

But trust me initially I think melo may start either way he’ll be in the game a lot regardless and will be at PF a lot this season

Actually with no Rodney Hood I would start Tucker at SF and Melo PF. Stagger the rotation between Tucker/Melo/Ennis so they can rest.....that's TuckerMelo getting rest with the help of Ennis.

Melo has been SF in 7 years playing for the Knicks and then OKC last year. Learn your positions on the court.

Melo played PF when MDA was on Knicks, learn your players.

We’re notorious small ball team Ariza was playing PF at times. He will slot in at PF a decent amount

Not saying he’s a legit PF or anything I’m just saying he will be SF/PF. His body frame is versatile enough to do that

unless you think brewer or pg13 played the 4 for some reason, you're really off here

Yes, I think your post was meant for the other person i was discussing this with.

    Steven Adams (C)......Melo (PF).........PG13 (SF)........Roberson (SG).........Westbrook (PG)

Brewer replaced Roberson when they acquired Brewer after Roberson went out.

Remember Melo said he would not come off the bench (after he suggested he maybe should come off the bench to Billy D)......which means he was starting PF.......unless you think Steven Adams was playing PF; then Melo was playing Center (again not SF)

    http://www.82games.com/1718/17OKC13.HTM

    According to 82games.com
    Melo (17/18)
    Production By Position

SF........Melo logged in 0% of the team’s season minutes at SF
PF........Melo logged in 56% of the Thunders season mins at PF
C.........Melo logged in 6% of the Thunders season minutes a C

Opponent Counterpart 48-minute Production by Position
SF..........Melo/Thunder allowed opposing SF to have a PER of 50.0 in those few seconds he played SF.
PF.........Melo/Thunder allowed opposing PF to have a PER of 17.4
C...........Melo/Thunder allowed opposing C to have a PER of 25.9
So again, I don’t want Melo playing SF. I don’t care if MDA played Melo at SF 50 years ago.

Wikipedia: Power Forward: “The Power Forward, also known as the 4 position, is one of five positions in a regular
basketball game.....they typically play offensively with their backs towards the basket & position themselves
Defensively under the basket in a zone defense or against the opposing power forward in man-to-man defense.”

So since the opposing team will guard Melo with a PF because Melo will kill them on the blocks......
and Melo will guard power forwards because he will constantly get burned defensively on the perimeter.....
That makes Melo a Power Forward for Houston.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck.......it’s a duck (not a small forward)

all your posts suggest melo has been playing SF. He hasn't.

not sure what you're even trying to say here.

ohhh I see what’s going on. That’s a typo @mockster replyed to. I meant PF for the last 7 yrs.

My apologies for the miscommunication. Then I am in agreement with both of you.

    Friendly FYI / FWIW
In post #3....I noted a depth chart using Guards/Wings/Bigs

I have Ennis as a Wing and Melo as a Big.

    http://www.82games.com/1718/17MEM14.HTM
James Ennis (17/18) Production by Position
SG.............Ennis logged in 1% of the Grizz season team mins at SG
SF..............Ennis logged in 21% of the Grizz season team mins at SF
PF..............Ennis logged in 6% of the Grizz season team mins at PF

Player 48-min by Production by Position
SG.............Ennis PER of 20.8 during that 1% span of time.
SF..............Ennis PER of 14.5 during the 21% time period
PF..............Ennis PER of 6.5 during his 4% time at PF.

    Opponent Counterpart 48-min Production
SG..............Ennis/Grizz allowed opposing SG a PER of 8.7 while Ennis played SG
SF...............Ennis/Grizz allowed opposing SF a PER of 12.4 while Ennis played SF
PF................Ennis/Grizz allowed opposing PF a PER of 20.9 while Ennis played PF.

Personally I would rather Tucker help out at PF.......over James Ennis.

Yes, because he is older, slower and out of shape. CP3 needs to kick his butt.
