Another solid showing from Melton. Not greatest offensively scoring today but 10 rebs, 7 assist, 4 stl and one block. Does everything we like, his defense and rebounding is crucial. Could easily be our Patrick bev replacement
A bigger and hopefully a bit better Patrick Beverly. He barely turned 20 and has some upside left as far as a passer and offense. Can be quite a weapon off the bench a year from now.
unfortunately we only get two 2-way contracts, and Clark and Edwards have those spots. Zhou Qi is under contract. Melton will be under contract (part of our MLE). Not sure what Hartenstein's official status is. Is RJ Hunter under contract? How do we keep control of guys like House, Duval, and Deng? Would we have to sign them out of our MLE to non-guaranteed contracts?
I agree could be much better Tbh if we don’t pick up another guard I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a little action this year.
Though you can't see it in the box score, Adel was the only player that could disrupt or even bother Sexton (the #8 pick, who clearly has a future with Cleveland). It was pretty remarkable how fluidly Adel could stay in front of the fastest guy on the court (with one exception when I think he thought he had help). No one else (including Melton) had any luck in a one on matchup with Sexton. The Cavs were anxious to put out a weak PnR showing to try to get Adel to switch off his matchups. Then, there was this 5 minute sequence in the 2nd quarter when the Rockets put Edwards on Sexton and Adel on a PnR big so that when Sexton would drive, he's be met by Adel. That essentially closed the door on a mini run as Sexton was willing to give up the ball to other players to create (like Scoochie Smith, who has to be on all time best summer league name list). Lots of potential on D, strong on glass, and full of intangibles, Adel is a prospect to watch. Oh, and he can put the ball on the floor too. But against a frontline NBS style defender and team concepts, he's probably a little turnover prone. Since I mentioned Edwards, the only other thing I can say about his game is that he understands offensive and defensive assignments. He always seemed in the right place but his defense and play was all below the rim. It doesn't strike me that he adds very much to our roster. Pretty invisible on offense.
Pat is a Bulldog!!! This kid is a lab with a little bite back!! But I think minutes off the bench is in his future. Nothing to overact about but he was arguably the best player in that team.
