This is hardens team. And in his mvp speech he said he doesn’t need to add another player or anything. He’s fine with bringing back the same squad
The trade would've been too hard to work out in a short amount of time. You can basically blame it on Ryan Anderson's contract. We should just focus on trying to sign a 3rd star level wing and try Anderson at the 5 next year. He can be like a Zaza Pachulia who can shoot the 3.
Honestly we would have won it all if cp3/luc didn't get injured. Our teamwas solid enough, getting lebron might be sweet, but idk now after the sting of losing has lessen. I was all for it after getting blasted by the refs/smug warriors, but now meh.
he's not going to choose where he's most wanted, he's going to choose where ever he and his family wants to go. you can have hakeem, drexler, cp3, and harden rolling the red carpet. If Lebron wants to live in LA, he'll go there.
I can’t blame Harden if he doesn’t want to be Lebron’s sidekick and get all the blame if they come up short and none of the credit if they win he was this close to winning a title as the main guy
I'm personally not a believer in needing a third star to win. Hell, we almost did it this year. What we do need is some additional depth at PG and Center, to resign our FAs, and increase our rotational minutes. Also, I'm getting tired of the stick that the Anderson contract is the root of all evil. If we don't sign Anderson, we might not have gotten Gordon who has played extremely well the last two years. Anderson didn't do badly his first year here (40% 3pt, 13.6 PPG), but when he got hurt and we ramped up the switching defense he was just lost. He still has value in the league and I bet DM has a couple of ways to move if he sees the right opportunity. I respect LeBron's game and yes bringing him here could make us a truly dominant team, but if he doesn't come--all is not lost. We still have a great team, the MVP, the Exec of the Year, and last year's Coach and 6th Man of the Year. That's pretty damn good.
The real reason why Lebron would not come to Houston is his kids and Wife. Happy wife= Happy Life. If Lebron needs to play off the ball... he'll play off the ball. If he wants to dominate, he will dominate... he's that smart, he's that good, and he's that talented. Everything else is trivial... he has a 1 billion or so lifetime contract with nike. He'll make his money from them no matter what. Lebron will fit and shine wherever he plays. If he comes here, Harden already has an MVP, a fat check. He just needs the championships just like Lebron to solidify a Legacy. So it is not about the shoes, the gq covers and all that... it is about what his family wants to do. Anyone here that is married and has kids could tell you. Especially if they are completely well off and could live anywhere in the world. Don't sell Houston to Lebron. Chris Paul is already here. Lebron is not stupid, he knows it is instant championship. Sell Houston to his wife and kids that he holds so dear!
Idk how to embed tweets but check out Ben gollivers Twitter. He has video of James being asked about LeBron and he sounds like he knows Bron isn't coming or doesn't want him. he just won mvp so he could just be annoyed about being asked about another player but he could at least have given a cookie cutter type answer like " anytime you can add someone of that caliber you have to try" etc regarding adding LeBron. Instead he basically said "we don't need him" CP3 being healthy isn't a given so if you got a chance a LeBron you have to take it. With the way CP is playing less games every year we can't count on him holding up for more then 2 years IMO
CP3 wasn't an MVP caliber player like LeBron and KD, and it was Cp3 who wanted less responsibility. and it's already clear that KD doesn't mind riding the coattails of other MVPs, Lebron isn't ready to do that.
LeBron did NOT want that MVP award really badly this year. He's the best player by a mile if he wanted it he'd go get it. Most people forget that he completely turned his brain off for a month and half. All of January and most of February he was getting stats but was a total zombie out there. Lots of times the cavs were 4v5 on D cause LeBron wasn't going down the court. They were the second worst defense for most the year beating out only Phoenix. He wanted to play all 82 games to prove a point but he wasn't even giving half his full effort for most of them. If he wanted to be MVP he'd be MVP. On topic, he won't be here because he won't want to be here. That's it. He'd come if he knew he could beat Golden State for sure. He wants assurance not a shot. Other than that he's better off going for side stories like loyalty in Cleveland or legacy building in LA.
If you have the opportunity to make the team better, you do it. Period. It's great and all that we were a half away from the Finals. That doesn't mean we would have won, even though it's highly likely we would have won. Harden's ego is getting in the way if he truly believes we don't need to add more talent.
Good thing for Harden who does not want to settle on a wife, does not want to spend money on kids, just yet.
