    Bad omen for Ryan Anderson:

He hasn’t played many minutes of late and this is with some other guys still out. Seems the team is prepping for the eventuality of a “can’t play Kanter” moment against a tougher playoff opponent. The team can still win with him on the court (did so when he was starting earlier in the seasons) but In a playoff series it seems that more versatile switch defenders like Luc+PJ would be the way to go. And we know that Dan Tony will shorten the rotation.

Ryno is never going to be a good defender due to his lack of physical prowess, but let's not act like he is completely incompetent on D. Ryno can hold his own against non-star bigs, especially when we play him at the 5. He also played some great D against CJ who simply hit really tough shots against him.

I think he needs to play some more games and re-adjust himself. He was out for awhile.

Ryno does show some flashes of surprising athleticism .

He seems to get injured afterwards though. Doing a spin moved knocked out his groin and hip. :(

He was always going to be the backup 5, and I suspect MDA/Morey can see what I see: Ryan Anderson at the 5 is a nightmare for the Warriors. Would take Green out to 25 feet with Harden/CP3/Gordon taking turns abusing Curry.

    I think so .

He's been WAY better in the boards and attacking the rim lately ... This means even if his shot is off , he's not a complete zero .

Defensively he's OK . Not a plus , but if guys are going in ISO to attack him , it's probably ok .

Frankly , his shot could be on and he could be a KEY piece .

So overall , I definitely think he should and will play plenty ~ 20-30 minutes depending on shot

Small ball. Everyone saw how effective it was for the Warriors.

The fact that he can hit shots 6ft behind the 3pt line might have something to do with it.

He can still do that from the 4 like he was all season long

Two words, small ball. In our small ball lineup, one of our wings plays the 4.

    Small Ball Lineup:
    PG: CP3
    SG: Beard
    SF: Ego
    PF: Ariza/Luc
    C: Tucker/Ryno

He should absolutely play over Joe Johnson.

It became apparent in the game against Portland that he's a liability. They were doing what we do: whoever he was guarding would set the pick, forcing him to guard Dame or McCollum.

At the same time, he was fine against DET because they don't have a guard that is a legit threat to wreck a game off the dribble.

Problem is, almost every playoff team has one of these guys

Survey says: if the other team is taking advantage of him, bench him

Backup 5 against all real threats in the playoffs who play small. PJ and LMAM are just better overall and our slow offense is working so well that it is best to play defensive optimal lineups usually.

His percentage from behind the arc is better than anyone on the team. With our style of play, he is definitely viable.

That's not small ball, and it's not what matches up with the Warriors. Putting Ryno at the 5 allows us to put 5 legitimate 3 point threats on the court at all times, while keeping the paint clear for Harden/CP3. It's very effective, and basically neutralizes Draymond's rebounding and rim protection.
