Peyton Manning won a superbowl .. . . . . Had he been with the Texans after leaving the Colts I am sure the Texans would have at least made the Championship round He left in 2011 2015 Brian Hoyer (9) / Ryan Mallett (4) / T. J. Yates (2) / Brandon Weeden (1) [3] --- 9-7 2014 Ryan Fitzpatrick (12) / Ryan Mallett (2) / Case Keenum (2) [4] -- 9-7 2013 Matt Schaub (8) / Case Keenum (8) [5] 2-14 2012 Matt Schaub (16) [6] -- 12 -4 2011 Matt Schaub (10) / T. J. Yates (5) / Matt Leinart (1) [7] 10-6 Rocket River
Other teams like the Giants, Bears, Browns, Bucs? Not really a ringing endorsement considering each of their last 2-3 hires (1 for NYG) have been complete failures. Not advocating for one thing or another but don't think you should keep him just because other teams will scoop him up.
We'll see if O'Brien is any good I'm guessing some team will buy his narrative that he's a QB guru and offensive genius, and that everything that happened in Houston was someone else's fault. I hope he goes to the Colts, personally.
So all the teams who need a coach next year will want the guy we are firing. That is a ringing endorsement.
These teams also hired Ben McAdoo, Rob Chudzinski, Mike Pettine, Hue Jackson, Dirk Koetter, Marc Trestman, etc...
Correct. But, at one point it was thought that Bill Bellichek was a bad hire. Teams are typically as good as their players.
Kubes always had his choices of players here. Remember the denver south south jokes and colorado st jokes because of the players HE wanted to fit his scheme. And it's an amazing scheme to this day. I would have that over the TB12 system. Some of the best players we have were engineered to fit Kubes system, Brown, Brooks, Newton, ben jones, hopkins, griffin. It's for that Same reason that we had to go through the Hoyer/mallet era and running things like TB12 south. Bill o brian has had his chance at getting the players he's wanted for this complex chinese backwards avocado ice cream playbook. It hasn't work out until Watson, who is completely different than what b.o.b seeks in his qbs came along.
Besides, kubiak built an elite offense here. It only collapsed when Schaub turned into a pick 6 machine after the list franc injury. Foster, Schaub, Owen Daniels, that OL. Kubiak got those guys and along with Andre built a very good offense.
Is O'Brien intelligent? Yes he yells a lot, he's a "leader of men," he gets guys behind him and players to play hard. But is he smart?
If Rick Smith and Bill O'Brien were both free agents, one guy would get hired immediately and the other guy will probably have a difficult time finding another job at his position.
If Watson really wants to stick with BOB then keep him. But, really, how far is this team from the current Colts, where they had not built an OL or a defense (secondary in our case) around Luck for years. And in a worst case scenario, with all the smokescreen garbage we've seen through the years, I would believe they'd pull the same crap the Colts did, not putting a star on IR so they could keep selling tickets.
