I expect a desperate team to give him the full max and I expect the Rockets not matching it. We could be working on a cheap deal right now but this stupid Morey rule about matchy match is the gift that keeps biting our asses.

I got a real bad feeling about Cuban on this Capela RFA business. I just know he goin try to mess us up. Noel don't want to be there and ain't coming back

They don’t have to lose anybody to match.

Maybe other teams would gamble the Rockets don’t want to take on all that $$ ... but it’s not like they can’t.

Capela will get a max offer, 100%.

    The teams that will be after him are;

Dallas - They offered Nerlens $17m per last year to someone who is no where near Capela. They offered Deandre Jordan max money a couple of seasons ago. They've been after a Big Man since Tyson Chandler left, they will not hesitate to offer Capela the Max.

Nets - They play almost the same style as Houston and their front office values the same type of players, their pick situation means they have no incentive to tank, they've always valued Rockets big man, they were the main bidder that forced Rockets to give Scola his last big contract, also the DMo contract. If they can clear some space, they will offer Capela the max.

Phoenix - Greg Monroe is expiring, Tyson Chandler is done, their project of Alex Len is not working out. They've got a bevy of guards and swingman. They really need a big man to give them what they hoped they were getting from Tyson Chandler, they will offer the Max to Capela.

Lakers - Brook Lopez is expiring and KCP as well. Lakers have enough space for 2 max contracts, if they strike out on their Lebron plan, which is pretty likely, they will throw the max at Capela, since their young talent are all in other areas, they have no future talent at the C spot.

I'd match any offer. We are not getting anyone better than Capela in the FA market.

    - Dallas can still draft a big though, especially since that's their biggest hole as today, the other spots are kinda occupied (Smith at PG, Curry and Matthews at SG, Barnes at SF, Dirk at PF), and there're eventually other centers out there like Nurkic, Favors, Okafor (lol), most are unrestricted also.

    - Nets are interesting imo, but they just drafted Jarrett Allen which is similar to Capela and he has pretty good potential so, not sure they will throw big money to another center similar to the guy they already have...they've also a toon of money on Mozgov for two more years, if they max Capela they end up with half of thei cap space in two centers, doesn't look that smart imo.

    - Phoenix definitely need a center, but same as Dallas, they will draft in top ten (again), the other spots are occupied, aside for the PG maybe? But anyway, there's a big chance they'll draft a center imo.

    - Lakers i don't see it, i expect them to go after big names with the money, and that's if they just don't keep Lopez which is still possible.

But in the end it just takes one team so, who knows, Kings might be another team to keep an eye on if they don't trust Cauley-Stein going forward, Atlanta had interest in Noel, if they don't draft a center i think they can be dangerous. The Knicks also, they've a lot of centers, but Capela should be a great fit with Porzingis, and Kanter and Noah are just not there to stay, at some point they will be out.

Lavar: So basically we will max you out and Lonzo will make you an all star. My boy is already the best pick and roll player in the league, but all they wanna talk about is his shooting. Anyways, you in?

The problem with drafting Centers is that for Dallas, Phoenix, etc... They can't wait, without a legit big man, their young guards can't reach their potential, so they are very unlikely to wait for their drafted big men to develop, they need a legit Pick and Roll big right now for their guards.

we'll have to deal both Ryno and EG first if we want to sign Lebron.. then we have to go over cap to sign Capela. Tilman better be prepared to spend a crap ton of money in taxes next season if he wants to win. He's building a new training center so maybe he's committed.

I'm not sure i follow you here, those are both rebuilding teams, and rebuilding teams usually draft the players they want to start, they don't max free agents even if they fit...i'm not saying it's impossible they go after Capela but if they're able to draft a center with a top 10 pick, i'm not sure why they would instead draft in a position they have already occupied just to max a good player (not a star) in free agency.

Unless a team drafts a can't miss prospect like Embid or KAT, no team is going to wait 4 years for a lottery pick to pan out, just look at Phoenix with Alex Len, or Philly with Nerlens/Okafor. A good PNR big is very important because without one, your guards can't reach their potential, so no team is going to waste seasons waiting for a lottery big to develop unless it's a can't miss prospect.

Well you can argue with the Dallas GM who gave Deandre the max, Wesley Matthews the Max, Harrison Barnes the Max, Chandler Parsons the Max, Nerlens Noel $17.5m, argue with the Nets GM who gave Allen Crabbe near Max, Jeremy Lin $12m, DMo $37m, etc... Every single year all teams need to be at the salary floor, and they all bid on max free agents all the time. In fact the only team that did not do so was Hinkie's Sixers. No other teams are run like the Rockets, Capela will get the max, from several teams, there is no doubt about it.
