1. no. 2. if so, how? DeAndre makes more than 20 million a year? Which key rotation players are you including to match salary? 3. I recall reading that CP3 and DeAndre don't actually get along well and that was a big reason DeAndre had agreed to sign with the Mavs a few years back.
This is what happens when context is not used. DJ's attempts decreased and only shoots 2.5 FT's/game this year compared 5.2, 8.0 and 5.7 the previous years. Compare that to Capella who's FT attempts increased to 3 per game and yet improving his percentage.
Capela has improved each and every year and at only 23 years of age, has a good amount of room to grow. DeAndre might be a more impactful player overall but his awful free throw shooting during crucial moments is major cause for concern. Really can't have that unless you have a prime Shaq on your team. I say we just roll the dice with what we have, but obviously gotta keep your eyes open.
Clint is arguably the better offensive player right now. The point of getting DeAndre would be if you think he is a clear upgrade on Defense... HE ISN'T. The guy has stopped caring about defense this year. He has averaged 1.1 BPG this year. DeAndre is a weaker rim protector than Capela at this point. This is on top of DeAndre being weaker defending guards off switches on the perimeter, something very important when playing the Warriors/Curry.
No, just no. I don't want to become the 2016 Los Angeles Clippers a year later. Idk why people are so set on acquiring all of the same players.
In terms of skills and salary, it's too much of a lateral move at this point in their careers (since Clint will get paid in the offseason). The one major difference? Clint is 6 years younger.
Sorry in advance, i don't want to be harsh but i don't know how to say it otherwise, no one with at least a decent knowledge of the game would ever trade this Capela with this DeAndre man, let alone with a first rounder, you gotta be kidding.
there is no way in hell we are messing with the cap flexibility for next off season right now. gotta pay cp3, gotta bring in lbj, probably sign wade to minimum to bolster bench... just enjoy the ride right now man. why fix something thats not broken??
Reading the clipper boards Clipper fans are not high on DeAndre. Loads of threads with ideas on how to trade him and a lot of them mention Capella as the target. Most of them don't think we'd do it if the clips don't throw in some major sweetener. Capella is a far better offensive player and is very close defensively. IMHO moving CC for DJ overall would be a downgrade.
Yes, I know DeAndre Hopkins was pretty upset after the loss to Baltimore and has been frustrated with the direction of the tram for a while.
If the Clippers were dumb and bought out Deandre I would be thrilled to sign him for the minimum. Beyond that? No thank you.
