S&T? U don’t think Morey could clear cap space?

You're insane. You think we wouldn't dump Ryno and others to sign LeBron?

Possibly, but I think he'd prefer to play with veterans that also happen to be his friends.

I'm not sure it's a good idea to gut the team in order to get LeBron. Obviously, the opportunity to sign him garners ultra serious consideration (to say the least). However, I'd rather sign him if he leaves money on the table, so that the team isn't gutted. This all depends on whether LeBron truly wants to win or just maximize his earnings? The fact that he makes more than twice as much off the court than he does on will really show where LeBron's values lie. Even still, a roster full of NBA scrubs and over the hill vets would still be among the very best if it featured LeBron, Harden, and CP3. However, such a team would be filled with glaring flaws and holes, kind of like LeBron's Miami teams. But.....those Miami teams had two striking advantages over a hypothetically gutted Rockets team. For one, the Heat played in the east and two, the big three Bosh, Wade, & Lebron were all in their PRIMES! At this point, we have to ask if it is really worth gutting the team for a 33 year old LeBron who might have two elite years left? On one hand, If that move guarantees at least one championship, then Morey would be an idiot not to. On the other hand, having a 33 year old LeBron with a gutted team doesn't necessarily make them better than the Warriors, who are already established, yet younger and deeper.

    Thoughts???

I didn't consider this but you are absolutely right. Unlike the Rockets, who would have to gut its team just to get him, Philly is going to have a crap ton of cap space and already have a roster full of young studs in the Eastern Conference. Adding LeBron to a team with Embiid, Simmon, Fultz, & all that depth [Saric, Reddick, Covington] would likely make the Warriors crap their pants... (assuming everyone stays healthy). Honestly, the more I think about it, LeBron would be kind of dumb to pass up on such a situation.

Patrick Beverley as 3rd point guard at vet minimum, coming back from microfracture surgery.

We can get rid of everyone not named James Harden or Chris Paul for all I care. We sign Lebron at that point we just add cheap vets... Gordon and Anderson are injury prone. Capela will cost too much and Ariza maybe he will be cheap.

    Easily.
    • Before the trade deadline trade Capela with Anderson and a pick for DeAndre since the Clippers are done this year.
    • Trade Gordon to get a pick back that we dealt for DeAndre. Cap would be at like 68 million.
    • Sign Lebron for $35 million or whatever it is and would put us at the cap at like 103 million.
    • Go over the cap to resign CP3. (If we are allowed with CBA)
    • Bring Ariza, Luc, Brown back on min deals. Sign a (2-3) 3 pt specialist off the bench.(Jefferson,Crawford,Redick)
    CP3/Brown
    Harden/
    Lebron/Tucker
    Ariza/Luc
    Jordan/Nene

CBA rules barring but could we have DeAndre opt out of next year so we can sign Melo also and then sign DeAndre to a new deal. Do we have the Bird Rights to do that if we trade for him this season?

Banana Boat just supercedes it. Not going to put that much faith in injury prone young talent.

Are u including cap holds? CP3’s cap hold is 36.5 mil IIRC.

I wouldn’t want to trade for Deandre. I like Capela better, and Capela has a small cap hold while DJ’s cap hold would be huge if he opted out, and if he opted in, then that would be 24 mil on our books going into free agency.

Ryan Anderson should be easier to move next summer since he’ll only have 2 years on his deal. Do u think that Morey could find somebody that will take him for a 1st?

Ariza and Moute coming back on vet mins isn’t gonna happen.

We would have DJ’s Bird Rights, but his cap hold would be almost as high as CP3’s. If u renounce his cap hold to free up that money, then u lose his Bird Rights and the ability to go over the cap to re-sign him.

I haven’t really sat down and thought about all of this tho, so somebody can correct me if I’m wrong.

I like Capela more also tbh. I think we can easily move him with only 2 years left as it doesn't really hinder a rebuilding team long term. Forgot about cap hold for CP3, you are right.

According to my sources, LeBron James is planning on signing with the Boston Celtics.

We're the only destination and his very very good friend cp3 plays here.

Plus he already has a good relationship with harden and has openly praised Harden in the past as a "true franchise player"

Lebron is a smart player he knows that Harden is the only guy in the NBA that can do the same stuff he does offensively.

I guarantee LBJ would come here and immediately let harden run the show.

If bron wants to win not compete but win more rings he's gotta come play with his buddy cp3 and give his crown to the new King James.
