even though this is a small ball era, unless your bigs are like ben wallace, u dont want them to be too short. every inch counts. thats why i want them tot ry mbah at pf, or ariza. ryan would be perfect off the bench

If you bench Anderson, his trade value would be even lower than it already is... and he would be one of the most overpaid bench players in the league. Morey no doubt wants to try to get rid of Anderson before trade deadline.

PJ looks worse than advertised. I know his D can be relatively good but his Offensive production not worth a mention.

I hope he turns it up a notch. 6'6 guy who plays PF and who isn't as good as Chuck Hayes in terms of positioning and quickness.

Start Zhou Qi! He can be a lob threat as well as a 3pt threat. plus he can defend, rebound, block shots...
He'd give us a big defensive starting line up to go against the top teams in the league. Ryno can come off the bench firing.

Start Mbah, the ‘space’ Ryno provides is not that crucial since ironically we don’t go inside anyway. PJ is too small and better served at SF.

He'd foul out quickly at this point. He need to learn how to avoid foulling.

What they need is the former Swiss Army Knife Borias Diaw.....but a younger version.

He could shoot, defend, pass and do the little things and is at least 6'8.

He got 20M reasons to be a professional smh. Plus there's a reason he is being dangled in the first place. If he didn't disappear everytime we face a good team then he wouldn't be in trade talks

He's paid 19 million not to be a star at that time...just because we were not able to get a legit allstar back then.

He's paid 19 million because they could not find a better stretch 4.

Alexander has done the same with Jerry Lin and Asik who looked promising but were no real stars, maybe not that much.

Fake news. The national media wants to peddle the narrative that Ryno is guttertrash, just so we couldn't move his contract at all this offseason. In reality his season-long 40+ 3pt% with range out to 28-30 feet is actually worth a tremendous amount in the regular season. Even in the summer you can look at my posts and the posts of other levelheaded people: swapping him out for Carmelo would have been a neutral or even negative move for our offense. On defense is where Carmelo has the potential to be much better than him at the four, but he hasn't done it for a couple of years now so you're banking on the fact that Melo was dogging it the past few seasons. It's a reasonable assumption which is why we all wanted to do the deal, but it doesn't mean Anderson is worthless.

The criticism of Ryan Anderson is justified. But let's not act like he isn't part of the reason Harden had one of the best regular seasons last year. The threat of a legit stretch 4 like Anderson opens the floor for Harden to penetrate. Even when Anderson's not shooting well just the THREAT of leaving him open forces teams to guard him. He does have value on this team

Well, three years ago we made the conference finals and Harden did win the MVP (by the players) playing with T.Jones, D.Mo and Josh Smith at the 4...

I like that premise and it just goes to show that Ryan was a failure of a signing. Largely because of his contract. If we got him at less than half his contract then id be ok with this guy but he's proving to be a Kelvin Cato signing.

starting a player based on salary is a horrible decision.

I say start Tucker(and hope he hits open 3s on a consistent basis) and have Anderson come off the bench. Not sure who's better at guarding 4s between Ariza/Tucker, but both would be better alternatives than Anderson on the defensive end.

Don't think we should trade Anderson unless we can get a clear cut upgrade and there seem to be one now or anytime soon.

It's definitely part of it, but MDA values spacing and offense over defense. I really hope we don't have to learn the hard way, but I don't think you can establish a defensive identity and become top 10 or even 15 with Harden, Capela and Ryno in the starting line-up. CP3 & Ariza can cover for Harden, but we need a player to cover for Capela. I'd say Mbah makes the most sense, since he's the tallest and better 3pt shooter. Tucker off the bench to replace Ariza and Ryno replaces Mbah.

Totally agree, we need only 1 poor defender on the floor at one time. You can never have James and Anderson on the floor together, much easier to score on Rockets as well. Any team that doesn't put James and Anderson in the PnR defense is crazy!
