Eh I think that's taking him out of context

He's saying he's willing to pay it for a championship. Otherwise why would you?

As long as the players have a modern style cafeteria to eat in then we should have no problems attracting top tier free agents. Been saying this for a long time.

"I'm going to take the advice of Daryl and his team and Tad. I will do what they suggest that we do."

If you go over the Tax Line you cannot do a Sign and Trade and you do not get the Full MLE.

That's why Morey doesn't like to go over, unless he has good reason to.

I think what he means by this is that he does not want to be like the Blazers, paying huge luxury tax to be an 8th seed.

He also probably means that teams who want to pay for players to be competitive should not be punished.

Yeah, the owners cannot pay "luxury tax" because they might lose money. Let us just forget that Les sold the Rockets for $2.2 billion and iirc he never paid "luxury tax". Les paid $85 million back in 1993-94. It almost makes me feel sorry for him to think that he might have paid a bit of luxury tax.

Well he's right in a way...why pay the Luxury Tax if your team isn't contending?

That's definitely not what he said. He said something along the lines of...

If Morey and his teams confirms before the season that the team will make the finals that year, he would pay the tax to win.

He also said the expectations for this year is WCF and if we don't make it, he'll work with Morey to get a 3rd Star so we will next year.
