IDK how much the franchise will sell for, but I hope Tillmasn Fertitta ends up buying it. You'll be surprised how much influence mob money has.

    $850 mil.

Take out Ballmer and every other team has sold for less than $600 mil (except for the knicks).

    This.

The salary cap was already downgraded from $108 to $99 million after poor TV ratings throughout the playoffs with the exception of the Finals. The rise of more super teams means more sweeps or short series and further loss of TV revenue.

Also, ESPN keeps hemorrhaging subscribers at an exponential rate and its only accelerating. Wouldn't be surprised if the cable networks opted out of this deal because of minimum viewership thresholds not being met. This is the right time to cash out as an NBA owner. The growth in valuation is at its peak. The bubble will burst soon.

I say 1.78B. I don't see any team selling for more than a LA team sold for.

well considering how much a new owner will get yearly + potential for value appreciation, I think it is going to be less than 2B. The Rockets brand is simply not great enough to make that much yearly profit.

LA clippers share a market with the lakers, and let's be honest, are not and never will be a bigger brand. They also had a forced sale, limited exposure to overseas markets, and weren't contending for championships.

Rockets have an incredible front office with the best GM in the league locked up for 4 more years.
Harden for 6, and CP most likely for 6 more.
Huge overseas market, specifically china who has the 2nd largest economy in the world.

Also that was 3 years ago, appreciation and natural inflation kick in along with the league revenue continuously going up.

I would say this is 2 billion if not more.

Do I get a minority stake? I'd settle for Landry's fried zucchini.

Well, call it $100mm for the hometown discount. Kidding aside, it's good to see that even in times of insane TV deals and unprecedented salary cap volatility that transactions still have some fundamentally rooted basis. Definitely superior to blindfolding a Billionaire with some lines of credit and having him throw a dart at the wall.

I am sorry to say that my team fell $200K short.

I was able to get 50,000 CF members to contribute $40K each but that turned out not enough. Maybe next time....
