Hey man I didn't say I was any better. I'd be trading 2041 first rounders for role players. I'm impatient as ****

I'm just getting the feeling that the difference between him coming or not coming may well hinge on a first round pick.

I guess morey could be thinking that's the offer he could extend right before the season but maybe wait them out for now? Maybe harden could let melo know the deal so melo doesn't do anything desperate like waive his ntc for another team?

Knicks want to. but won't for Anderson. They must be holding out for Gordon, Ariza, and spare parts. At this point, Morey must say no only Anderson and spare parts. I am guessing and speculating that Paul and Harden have been consulted and do not want to pull the trigger if it means Ariza. Maybe it happens in camp, or at the trade deadline......or maybe not at all. If it ends up being Ariza, Gordon..........I am not so sure we are not better off with what we got at this point. Then the question becomes......do you move Ariza and Gordon for Melo.....not based on this year but hoping you attract a fourth star next year.......

That is a complicated situation. I think back to that Charles Barkley trade. I wanted it badly.....and ever since I have looked back at what Cassell and Horry brought over the years post trade while we imploded after adding Pippen..........maybe EG and Anderson have us in a similar situation. Melo is the best player, but if you are talking multiples of Ariza, EG, and Anderson surrounding Paul and Harden......that is not a bad place to be.

As someone else said, it is the Knicks, and the Knicks are not logical. It makes a complicated situation that much more convoluted. I am sure every player in the league is watching how the Knicks have done Anthony, and the gossip is happening.

Wow, just read through the big debate over my tweets. Good stuff on all sides!

First off, none of my tweets were based off of insider information. They were based purely on educated assumptions relating to the utility of cap space versus (premature) use of the Room MLE.

And yes, some of you (Reeko and heyp included) are right to note that my educated assumptions don't equate to fact or even a "rumor with legs".

Am I reading too much into the Baker signing becoming official? Perhaps. But my intent was simply to show that such signing becoming official is FURTHER EVIDENCE (even if it is only circumstantial evidence) that a Melo trade is not likely to be imminent.

Yes, most rationale fans at this point aren't counting on a Melo trade anytime soon (versus maybe closer to training camp). But this small bit of information just gave further credence to that rational belief. My initial tweet was supposed to convey only this much, but there were so many people confused by my first couple of tweets that I needed to spell it out in simpler terms. Unfortunately, that meant that my "all caps" tweet was taken as an assertion of fact rather than what it was, just an educated assumption.

    Sorry for any confusion, guys!

Thanks the post bima. I get now that your saying it isn't likely to happen soon, but doesn't mean your saying it WON'T happen. Just confirms what most thought. That it could take awhile.

Bima does the Beasley signing mean anything concerning the Melo-Houston trade talks?

@BimaThug - I still don't think it changes much in the grand scheme of things if the Knicks are willing to take back close to equal salary. Sure, they should have probably traded Melo, created cap space (opposite of that happened when 2 NG's expired), signed Baker, etc with available cap space and still would have a part of their MLE to use. But they're the Knicks.
