the players being so confident that this thing will happen and reporters seeming to imply that Melo will eventually end up in Houston are 2 big reasons for why I think a deal will eventually get done

I think they'll attract stars regardless of how trash they are and how terrible management is. The "I'm going to bring that franchise back to the top" mentality is real. I mean it's obvious with Paul George set on LA.

That draw likely only works for teams like NY and the Lakers because of their history in sports.

when has NY got any superstar FA's to sign there? lol
LA, Kobe was there and without Kobe, they haven't signed anyone yet although that timespan is a lot less than NYK. George can say what he wants or people can say for him, but he's not in LA yet. We'll see though

It helps when the star has some connection to those cities. NY was and is trash but Melo was set on going there. Now Kyrie (New Jersey for HS but close enough)

I'm about 99% sure George is going to LA. Unless some miracle happens and they beat the Warriors he is not staying in OKC.

Porzingi -- saying that he wants Carmelo to stay is probably lip service that the Knicks are having him do.
Knicks -- right now we can trade Melo for a bag of chips, but if we can act as we will keep him, then the Rockets will be desperate. Would you help us out?
Porzingi -- yes, anything to help my team!
    ---

The tide, the wind, whatever is not changing. The Knicks are playing the long game. Be patient. Not soon!

I doubt that Melo ever goes full on nuclear. If anything at all happens, it'll be little anonymous "source close to Melo saying that he feels mistreated by Knicks" to Isola, Woj, etc. Melo doesn't need to get his hands dirty like that.

The important factors, though, are: 1) The Knicks really don't want Melo around for their rebuild and 2) The Knicks are trying to rebuild their reputation among free agents after the Phil Jackson fiasco. They want to show that they are different now. Thus, keeping Melo where he is unhappy isn't something that they actually want to do regardless of whether Melo goes nuclear.

gotta love the knicks fans who are like, "well if he wants to be like that, just sit him for the year!!" yeah sit your franchise star who tried to be loyal to the city over the years. thats going to go over well with the players.

how the hell are knicks fans so entitled when the last time they were relevant was the 2 months of linsanity? which resulted 0 post season success

The question they need to ask themselves is this: Has a team ever done this with a player in a similar situation?

If it is fourth and inches from goal line and assuming it is not own goal line then we might go for field goal and not touchdown..lol

I like the Knicks fans design these deals
Houston out: Ryan, Gordon, Ariza and 3 1st round picks
    Houston in: Melo

Seriously that was one that they proposed.. That won't even work much less - ahhh no

Lmao these idiots. They don't get the concept that the team trading the star rarely gets equal value.

Except the Knicks, who traded away a bunch of young talent and picks for Carmelo a few years ago when they could have waited until the end of the season to sign him as a free agent lol.
