I'd really like to watch the games live, but I refuse to pay for cable. I am willing to pay for a service. What is the best way to do this?
If you're in their local coverage area, you're SOL if you want live feed. If you have no qualms about pirating, google reddit mlb streams right before the game.
mlb.tv and pay for a VPN service like private internet access so you can mask your location to watch locally or you can use the mlb stream subreddit on reddit.com. They tend to have good quality streams.
I've watched every game this season through strikeout.me, it's a great site and has HD options, just make sure you have an ad blocker installed.
I've been front running with reddit mlb streams One of these days I will sit down and actually try and go through the steps to get root sports to stream.
Not so sure about that big chunk of Texas. Austin, San Antonio, Corpus, Laredo, Waco, Houston, Lubbock, Fort Worth, Texarkana, Dallas, Beaumont, Brownsvillie, El Paso, Amarillo, Nacogdoches and all their surrounding areas are considered home territory for both the Rangers and Astros. Those are just the first few zip codes I ran through this: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/subscriptions/index.jsp#blackout
I realize I wrote that statement way too quickly and made it ambiguous--I meant that "network area" includes a big chunk of Texas. (Last year, I spent a few months in Dallas and was irritated that it was part of the Astros home territory)
Highly highly unlikely you'd get any trouble for this. My concern was the PIA ip's being blacklisted. I'm a current pia customer and have been for years. Simple, cheap, and one of the best services out there .
