Players can still develop muscle well past 21, especially long bigs who need a while to fill out. Check out Whiteside at 21 compared to 26.

Has anyone seen an Asian person as big as Capela or Whiteside before? Compare apples to apples please.

He will break his arm/wrist within half a season in the d-league, not to mention in the nba. All it takes is one hard foul slapping on one of his skinny arms.

I think give him the next year to pack on some pounds, dominate the D-league, and he'll have a huge chance to backup Capella / center position for the 2018-2019 season. If he has a great FG%, RB, and block shots, he'll out play Capella.

I think he has a chance, just not this year

good to see he is working hard, this guys needs gain some weight and get his body ready, Yao mentioned in one interview, this kid has good shooting touch, really long arms and great shotblocking skill, in order to be able to translate skills onto on court performance, he really just needs to get his body ready

Yao had tree trunk legs when he came into the league. His lower body was always strong.

Can't believe there's so much focus on his strength or bulk.

The real question is can he play basketball at an NBA level?? And the answer to that is a complete freaking unknown.

Is he definitively playing in the summer league?

Agreed. Too much focus on strength and bulk. Let him fill out naturally. Strengthen his core, improve his skills, and increase his stamina.

When KD came into the league he couldn't bench press 185.

The other factor, this kid is 7'2"with a standing reach of 9'4" to 9'6". 45's to him is about 75's to a normal 6 foot man.

Hone his skills and his core. He doesn't need more mass right now. That will come soon enough.

Dude has a legit bird chest, he needs the mass. Go back and look at Dmo on draft day and Dmo three years later, one guy is a puny kid the other an nba big man, Joe needs to get on some barbeque:

You must not have an understanding of why players build muscle.

It's not about strength and bulk but about protection. It's about being able to be physically competitive in the NBA. About building up your body for the punishment it will take.

His skills will alway be there. He's been working on them since he was a child.
