Yes. It is apparently a foregone conclusion that he goes to the Lakers if he leaves Indiana. Boston won't give up the Brooklyn picks because of this.
Atlanta reportedly made an offer as well. (What do they have to offer?) _____________________________
Well to bad nothing happened LOL. Strange that Celts stood pat with their picks, I mean having lots of assets is nice and all but their current crop of talents are about to hit FA it was time to cash in their chips. Btw apart from the Rox I think the happiest fans out there are the Lakers. With Paul George all but promising to go to LA they can tank this year without any worries. Top 3 pick this year+ Paul George and Ingram looking really good Lakers gonna be scary again after a while.
Woj: Celtics & Bulls talked about Jimmy Butler. Never got close. Boston was willing to give them - they had their pick from Memphis, the Clippers & a couple of their own + Brooklyn's pick this year & next. Chicago wanted more of that Celtic core of players. Boston didn't want to give up both. They thought Chicago would head towards a rebuild and would want as many picks as possible. They didn't get too deep into protections on picks & there was no deal. Boston maintains flexibility. They can still go after Hayward & re-visit George & Butler. If you're Gar or Larry Bird, by waiting til the draft, you know what pick they'll have. What else will be interesting is if they keep this pick, the best players in this draft are point guards. Isaiah Thomas may want a renegotiation using the Celtics salary cap space. If they bring in one of those PGs, especially if he doesn't get an extension, how does he handle that? What allows him to play in the NBA at 5'8 is a tremendous belief & chip on his shoulder. If he doesn't get an extension and they draft a PG who they believe is a future franchise PG, that may impact that chemistry & how Isaiah sees his role & own future. Doesn't mean you don't draft that guy but something Danny has to think about.
