Agreed. Take away the shooting stars and skills challenge. Have a "street" dunk contest with known street and youtube dunkers and a separate NBA player dunk contest. Maybe have a one-on-one NBA player challenge.

Yeah I'm sure he will. Wasn't he the top vote getter last season? I don't think Harden starts unfortunately. My best guess for the starters would be:

    Curry
    WB
    Kawhi
    Durant
    Davis

I think we can expect Eric Gordon to get into the 3pt contest.
And perhaps Beverley into the skills contest again.
    Dekker in the Rookie/Sophomore game?

I think it be cool too if the players picked the teams like a pickup game. Fans vote in 24 players positions and conference don't matter. Top two vote getters are captains. If ASW is for the fans, let's make it as fun and fantastical as possible .

Giannis is definitely making it in the East. Kemba maybe too. I think Utah deserves 1 (sorry hate them but they're ballin), either Hayward, Hill, or Gobert. I don't think Lillard deserves it.

Harden didn't even get an all-nba nod last year, no way in hell is he getting the votes necessary to supplant mr. Triple double and mr. pre-game warmup

Morey and MDA should have introduced Harden as being a "points"-forward

Dekker has to get in, he's not being moved out the Rockets rotation. If its today, Montrezl might be in too but he needs playing time up to February. D-Mo if he's here could eat into his time

What sucks is Harden is prob going to be the guard that doesn't start.

Curry and Westbrook will take up all the starting votes.

In reality it should be harden and the other two battling it out for fan vote starters.

I've splattered my Gordon Hayward love across the GARM already.

But to be fair to the Jazz, they are rolling right now, and haven't been healthy all year, just destroyed the Thunder, etc. Someone from that team deserves to make it - Hayward most likely, Gobert next (such a defensive presence... I'd take Gobert over Cousins empty stats).

Hayward is putting up 23 ppg, 6 rpg, almost 4 apg, 1 spg... not his most efficient shooting year, but definitely all star numbers over a Klay Thomson, imo. I agree with the 9 locks, then would put Hayward next, then Lillard, then one of Klay/D.Green... don't care which.

    All-star starters based on winshares:
    Chris Paul
    James Harden
    Kawhi Leonard
    Kevin Durant
    Rudy Gobert, interestingly

    Kyle Lowry
    Giannis Antetokounmpo
    Jimmy Butler
    Lebron James
    Kevin Love

(Curry, Westbrook and AD get screwed by how awesome the West is this year)

Harden won't make it as a starter because it's a popularity contest with the fans. Curry and Westbrook will get the nod even though Harden is way more deserving

    Quarter thru the season....

    Eastern:
    G: Kyrie Irving
    G: DeMar DeRozan
    FC: LeBron James
    FC: Jimmy Butler
    FC: Carmelo Anthony
    ---
    G: Kyle Lowry
    G: Kemba Walker*
    F: Paul George
    F: Paul Millsap
    C: Andre Drummond
    WC: Isaiah Thomas
    WC: Giannis Antetokounmpo*

    Western:
    G: Stephen Curry
    G: James Harden
    FC: Kevin Durant
    FC: Kawhi Leonard
    FC: Blake Griffin
    ---
    G: Chris Paul
    G: Russell Westbrook
    F: Gordon Hayward*
    F: LaMarcus Aldridge
    C: Marc Gasol
    WC: Damian Lilliard
    WC: Anthony Davis/DeMarcus Cousins

I know Hayward will be a controversial pick but Utah deserves an allstar rep. Cousins and Davis are both statistical behemoths so it'd be hard not to include both but on such losing teams?

Disagree. I think at this point it is pretty clear that Harden and Westbrook are by far the best point guards in the West. Curry wasn't putting up anywhere close to their numbers, even before Durant arrived. Unfortunately, his popularity is going to screw Harden out of the deserved spotting spot.

I'm pretty sure they already do this? I know for a fact I saw this maybe last year or the year before last.
