Or at worst in the top 4 conversation. Right now he just keeps wining games without Conley and Randolph in the line up.This guy is a beast. Noway the Grizz should be 16-8 with all these injuries.
They've won 5 in a row. Who have they beaten? Philly New Orleans Orlando Lakers Blazers I wouldn't say it's been a buzzsaw of elite teams they just beat. Outside of New Orleans (the Brow) and maybe Portland (Lillard), Memphis has the best player on the court in those 5 games. Looking at their next 8 games, they could realistically go 2-6. GS Cleveland twice Sacramento Utah Boston Detroit Houston
Memphis' schedule has been softer than man boobs, but we can put his name in the hat if you want. https://espn.go.com/nba/stats/rpi/_/sort/SOS
The strength of schedule is such a fallacy. When the grizzlies get done with playing Cleveland, Cleveland, and GS, I bet their SOS will shoot up to 10th in the league or better. I don't put any stock in that.
Marc really is playing on a time Duncan-level. Seriously. The dude is hitting clutch 3 after clutch 3. I don't think the grizzlies can stop gs, I am not sure if the can d-them up enough, we will see. When GS plays the grizzlies, they take the game very seriously and they bring their a-game. If we had Mike Conley playing, i'd like our chances a lot more.
So a 7'1 260+ center who averages 6 rebounds per game is MVP material. I don't think so. I think he's Charmin material
You wouldn't want Marc Gasol on the Rockets? I would. He's like if Shane Battier were a 7'1 260+ center. He does the things you need to do to win.
I think they beat the clippers in la but looking at the upcoming schedule we will see what he is made out of.That is a tough schedule.
He's been on a tear. Numbers don't tell the whole story (except his last 3 games). He changes the game so much. Teams just double team him and that's how guys like Troy Daniels and Harrison have been putting up numbers. He's in the conversation but definitely not the league MVP. I would put him just inside the top 10 at this point. I think the Grizz will come back down to earth soon. Would be surprised if they didn't. Makes no sense how this guy is a 3 point threat right now. How do you even guard him?
I'd love him on the Rockets. Calling him soft was a joke although his rebounding is pretty awful considering his size, talent and minutes. He isn't anywhere near MVP material, he's barely all-star material...but again a very good player and would love him here.
If I were to go with a "safe" value choice at center, I'd go Marc Gasol. Cousins has attitude and winning issues still, same with Whiteside, DeAndre has offense & free throw issues, even worse with Drummond, Adams is similar, Bogut's an older banged up punk version, Gobert a stiff at times, Kanter is all offense no defense, same with Lopez with health concerns added, Noah is on decline already, Dwightware 'nuff said. (Embiid, Towns, Davis are untouchable. Horford and Pau aren't "true" centers) Gasol has an array of skills and is a really good post defender. Not strong on the glass, lacks food speed, some injuries too, but good everywhere else. Decent passer, shooting touch, IQ, leadership you like
