Maybe because he's a proven commodity at a position where we are thin at. For you to think going after Bogut is crazy makes absolutely no sense.

Maybe he needs to retire if he doesn't want to play for anybody.

I for one am happy he didn't want to be traded to HOU. Allowed for the Harden extension. Also I'd take Nene over Bogut every day - good offensive and defensive player and good passer for the C position. Both have had their shares of injuries, and sure Bogut is still a talented big, but wouldn't want that dirty player anywhere near the Rockets.

The Andrew Bogut hate makes no sense. He's probably the best seasoned center in the league. Only young big that can compete with him is Karl Anthony Towns if you are talking about championship contending here.

People shouldn't hate on him ..well not for his skills anyways. He is still a good C and can be a defensive anchor. But a lot of it had to do with GS as well (I think)...I'm sure he will get called for more moving screens this year than he has in the past couple of years.

Andrew Bogut explains why he chose Dallas over Houston

DALLAS -- Culture, coaching and his agent’s familiarity with the franchise were the primary reasons Andrew Bogut chose to be traded to the Dallas Mavericks instead of the Houston Rockets.

On the day the Mavs face the Rockets in Bogut’s Dallas home debut, the veteran big man confirmed ESPN.com’s summer report that the Golden State Warriors gave him the option to choose between the two Texas teams when they needed to trade him to create the salary-cap space necessary to sign Kevin Durant.

Bogut believed the Mavs were the better fit for him, saying he wanted to go to a team where he might be able to stay long term as he entered his contract year.

“I’m not saying Houston has a bad culture by any means, but my agent has a familiarity here,” said Bogut, whose agent, David Bauman, represented Peja Stojakovic, among others. “I’ve known a lot of players that have been pretty happy here when they were here. Richard Jefferson was one of them. And then the city -- I like the city, so it all made sense.

“Rick Carlisle is also one of the best coaches in the league. He knows how to get the best out of his players. He’s very, very smart and makes great adjustments. He’s a guy you want to play for. Obviously, [Mark] D’Antoni is a pretty good coach, too, but probably not suited for my style of play. I would have probably had to drop about 20 pounds to play in his system. They play a tough system, get up and down the court.”

The Rockets made the Warriors an offer identical to the Mavs’ bid for Bogut: a heavily protected second-round pick, almost certain to never actually be Golden State’s property, for the big man and a second-round pick. Houston moved on by signing Nene to a one-year, $2.9 million deal to serve as Clint Capela’s backup.

Bogut said on media day that he would have forced a buyout if the Warriors would have traded him to a team he did not approve. He clarified Friday that he was not referring to the Rockets.

“That was a different team, not Houston,” Bogut said, acknowledging that the Philadelphia 76ers were the other team that engaged the Warriors in serious trade talks. “I’m not saying I would have forced a buyout. It would have been an option.”

    But but coaching doesn't matter.

Also, no one will want to face us in the playoffs.

Apparently not impressed with the 3rd best record over the last 10 years either. ;)

Not with what he said, no, but his reasoning for turning us down doesn't bode well for us finding additional talent in the future.

I am no fan of Bogut but that being said Nene is a bum in contrast.

    It doesn't?

Maybe not large lumbering Centers, but shoot happy guards, absolutely.

If Cuban values you and considers you a friend, you'll have his loyalty. No other player in the NBA is treated better than Dirk. I think Bogut hopes he can endear himself to Cuban like how Dirk did.

Not sure why he thought he couldn't play in MDAs system, it's what Kerr does and Harden is going to walk the ball up like half the time any ways.

I hope we abuse Bogut with a bunch of illegal screens tonight...though I'm sure they'll get called on us.

That sucks cause Bogut would have filled a massive need for us.
