Dillon Tate was the #4 overall pick just over a year ago. He's struggled, but it's equivalent of a Derek Fisher or Joe Musgrove type prospect for a half season of a 39 year old DH.

Is the Beltran trade official? I probably would have done Derek Fisher for him. Wouldn't do Reed or Musgrove which is likely what NY was asking.
The White Sox apparently would've asked for Tate and Ortiz as the 2 pitchers in a Sale deal (in addition to hitters). I think he had significant value around the league
Don't know how to inbed tweets, but this is from a Brewers beat writer- Tom @Haudricourt I am told that Rangers getting Beltran makes it easier for them to include Gallo in deal for Lucroy.
Gave up too much when he made deals. Wasn't willing to give up enough when he didn't. Don't you understand how this works?
Guess we should prepare our bodies for the onslaught of Houstunna posts about how much he f***ing hates Luhnow and Hinch.
This doesn't make much sense. Gallo is not going to contribute to the Rangers this year. He is not ready. Strikes out way too much even in AAA. He still has a way to go before he is Adam Dunn. I would cash in on Gallo before he continues to struggle against MLB pitching.
The Rangers gave up a lot for a 39 year old rental (Beltran). However, it should let the Rangers move Gallo or another young bat if they want to. Astros have to decide if they are all in or not...... the Rangers have likely significantly improved.
I am all for the Rangers giving up as many top prospects as possible so that they can have the privilege of losing to the Indians in the playoffs.
Yep. Instant upgrade for that offense. Damn bastards. Not to mention they might have the steal of the winter with Ian Desmond
