Everybody keeps talking about a trade giving up pieces for Milsap. Can't we just sign and trade Howard for Milsap sliding Milsap into our newly created cap room and freeing up cap room for ATL?

No can do. Howard is an UFA. He cannot be traded.

I think he can be sign-and-traded.

But it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

If the Hawks really wanted to move Millsap and sign Howard, can't they just trade Millsap into some teams cap space and at least get draft picks back.

    1. Capela, Ariza, Bev and a future 1st protected to ATL for Millsap
    2. Max out Conley
    3. Max out Whiteside
    4. Match any offer for DMo
    5. Vet min for Stat

    Whiteside/Dmo
    Millsap/Stat
    KJ/Brewer
    Harden/ ?
    Conley/ PaytonII

    I'd roll with that.

Reread Codman's post, fam. Nothing has been signed. Didn't we learn anything about promises during last year's DeAndre Jordan drama?

I'm sorry, I can't get excited about amare and barbosa; are you kidding? Sounds like Milsap may be available and that would make me excited. Sounds like we are not out of the Conley sweepstakes. Sadly, sounds like Horford is a long shot? Seriously afflalo?

I think cod's post made me depressed. But much health to Cod!

    Oh.

You mean that one time something unprecedented happened? Yeah, you're right Whiteside to Houston confirmed.

lol I need to get you a jumping to conclusions mat because you're doing just that. You said he signed; I disagreed because he hasn't signed and that there's been a recent example, recent as of LAST YEAR, where a player can reneg before the ink even hits the paper. So now you're taking my rebuttal and assuming that I'm saying Whiteside to Houston is a done deal.

Oh and btw, we also had Bosh in our grasp until the 11th hour only to see him go back to Riley. Remember that?

I'll never forget that. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that was slightly different. I don't believe we had an official verbal with Chris Bosh at that time, like DeAndre Jordan gave to Dallas.

I'm not trying to be a troll here, I'm just saying I wouldn't expect us to acquire Whiteside at this juncture.

Just to point out the difference. I don't think DJ was publicizing anything last year. Yes, he had verbally agreed, but he wasn't announcing hsi decision via the player's tribune, or snapchat, and hadn't already agreed to even accept slightly less if the team was going to find a great FA to sign - as Whiteside apparently has agreed to do for the Heat (if KD will sign there). Plus, whereas DJ was verbally agreed to a new team, Whiteside is verbally agreed to his existing team and organization.

In other words, Whiteside is tying himself to the Heat organization.

But your point is at least technically correct. He hasn't signed a contract formally.

So Cod says these guys are still in play:

    Whiteside
    Conley
    Horford
    Bazemore
    Milsap
    Waiters
    Afflalo

I'm gonna leave out Durant and the scrubs he mentioned. Anyone else?

Whiteside is not in play. LOL

The guy wrote a player's tribune article about re-signing with the Heat.

If I have to sacrifice my 3 spot in order to upgrade my 1, 4, and 5 spot I'd do it. Unless you have a better solution where we field all star level talent at each position.
