He shoots a great 3point percentage but he barely takes any - not sure why.

How many think the only reason Parker played last night is because he knew Jason Terry would be guarding him?

The way his mid range was falling, plus the gazillion screens he gets on every play and the fact that everyone else is also deadly everywhere on the floor, nobody could've guarded him last night.

    Das it mane

My initial assessment was hardly kneejerk. It was based upon the data available at the time, general perception of Spurs fans and my own judgement of his play.

Lucky for the Spurs that he and Kawhi are playing on a totally different level.

Rumors of his demise were vastly exaggerated.

He does not need to do much but his stats this year

    RSeason 2015-16: 12 ppg 5 apg 2.4 rpg PER: 16

    Last 10 games: 9.5 ppg 4 apg 1.7 rpg

declining? well, we can conclude he is not improving (role player mode numbers)

He's still very good so forget about numbers, people have been saying the old trio would decline years ago..yet they posted A FRANCHISE RECORD 67 WINS! Yes Aldridge, Kahwi and some back ups have something to do with that but Parker, Duncan & Ginobli are still standing very strong.

Agreed - The Big 3 have accepted their declining roles - they know this is Kahwi and LA's team now. Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili dont have to carry a huge load like they used to in years past which makes them more effective and efficient.

Parker's biggest weapon is his quickness in beating his defender to get into the lane. Once he's there, his little floater is deadly. (I used to wish Rafer Alston could do the same.) But he has never been a good shooter, 3pt or midrange. Now his speed has declined with age and he lost that one lethal weapon.

Popovich's quest to win more championships:

    1. Win this year's championship
    2. Duncan, Manu and Parker retire together for nostalgia reasons
    3. Trade Danny Green for future protected 1st Rounder
    4. Waive/cut Diaw
    5. Sign Kevin Durant
    6. Sign Mike Conley

    Aldridge
    Durant
    Leonard
    2nd Round SG
    Conley

Pop retires when Duncan/Manu/Parker are out. Spurs will hire JBB and sexy time explosion.

Man if that happened (sans sexy time) and JBB wins a championship I wonder how many people on this board would freak out.

You are absolutely correct regarding Tony's declining ability as the main offensive creator. But i think his role nowadays is more about playmaking, leading the starting line up into their offensive sets ASAP, and be the main ball handler as a starter.

For me as a Spurs fan, the most hurting aspect of his decline is his defensive ability. He was never a top defender, even at his position, but in his best years was actually a very passable one. Nowadays, it would be fantastic if he wasn't lit up by some scrubs or D-leaguers.
