This is probably the draw back I personally didn't think about with making the playoffs is not being able to go after the coach that's first on our list

Rockets get in the playoffs, get beat down, lose pick ,and now have to sit on the sidelines while other teams pick off top coaching candidates. SMH

Why is everyone so welcoming to both of these coaches?

Do people not remember the flaws of JVG? And people glad when he got fired after the Utah Series?

Thibs is not without his own problems either.

No coaching candidates are without their problems. Everyone has their warts and shortcomings.

For me I am willing to overlook some of Thibs' shortcomings because his strengths in "structure and culture" are very needed on this particular team.

According to Codman Harden has given his thumbs up on Thibs. If Thibs can provide a structure that will make Harden thrive it will all trickle down to the rest of the team.

If the Rockets lose a high profile coach it won't be because of being a week late to the carousel. More likely, it will be because they don't want to give that coach GM powers.

No doubt that GM powers element is key for the Wolves.

    Not necessarily.

It more gets framed for Rockets fans that they "would be willing to accept Brooks as coach IF it got them Durant." But it hasn't been reported anywhere or even rumored that Durant would take a HARD LOOK at Houston if they got Brooks.

Still not interested in the JVG, Thibs, Nate McMillan's of the world.

A great college coach... and I mean great. Like I'd be excited about Jay Wright at this time. But he's not coming.

A great up and coming assistant coach.

I'm still on the Luke Walton bandwagon. He's "inherited" great players and system, but he certainly was a part of creating that as well.

I doubt the top candidates would make a decision, unless they were very much leaning towards the coach/GM role, until waiting to be able to talk to all possible teams.

Brooks is the wrong choice, why would Durant want to play for a coach he got fired?

Not only that but another draft pick (possible top 5) to go along with Wiggins and Towns...that is a very attractive position for a coach. Can't blame any coach for taking that.

Can we hire Brooks and if Durant doesn't come here fire him right after?

I'm for Walton as well. Anything that weakens the dubs. I also hope they lose a lot of players and or coaches and management as well. I hope they get hit hard this off season.

More than weakening them, I think he is a smart, savvy coach, who is young enough to be a "player's coach" but also knows X's and O's and discipline and would get respect from the players.

Staying on my Luke Walton bandwagon. Serious question for yall:

If Steve Kerr's back prevents him from coaching after this season, who coaches the Warriors going forward?

Isn't the answer obvious? It's Luke Walton. They wouldn't go run a search or anything. Walton is clearly good enough to "replace" Kerr. Not sure why he wouldn't be otherwise highly considered, that being the case.
