Just based on my younger brother's experience with my old brother's and his ex-wife's mortgage, when someone asks you to get something for them in your name it's so they can easily welch on the payments down the road. They'll start asking you to wait until next month to cash their checks or whatever.

 

I'd say you're more cheap than frugal at this point as you seem willing to put in a lot of time to save a few bucks. Priorities, bro.
