As a GM before the season on paper the bench was top 5 easily. Now they haven't produced and the line up is so inconsistent.

Harden for Wiggins + Rubio Would improve the team's defense and ball movement exponentially. I'd also get rid of Brewer + Jones and consider bringing back Josh Smith.
Rubio is injury prone and Wiggins is a good player and all but he's scoring because he's on a bad team

Hire him today so he has as much time he needs to teach the guys how to play the game the correct way, fix our defensive problems, and put in a real offense. Teach players his terminology. End of the day the talent will be there, but a coach is needed to win at the highest level. Someone who can make in game adjustments, especially late game execution situations. When talking players... I want Dwight Howard off my team immediately! Too many times, I'm tired of seeing guys get layups and dunks while DH stand and watch. DH cries for the ball on offense when he can NOT score and can NOT make a ft, if he was smart he would love and learn the art of the Pick and roll. -I would love to send him to Atlanta for D. Schroder and T. Splitter. Really whatever it takes to get SCHRODER on my team and Howard gone. -Next, I would love to send a package of T. Jones and something light (one of either Beverly, Mcdaniels, Dekker, Thornton, Terry, maybe Lawson) to Chicago and return T. Gibson and D. Mcdermott...yes I want to return both GIBSON & MCDERMOTT Schroder - elite pg with speed and feel. Harden - w/ a coach, the best player in the game. Ariza - defensive specialist. GLUE. Spacer. Gibson - defensive post. GLUE/HEART/TOUGHNESS. Montiejunas - low post scorer. charge taker. winner. Lawson - speed. still can play just need right coach. Mcdermott - elite spacer w/ a high IQ. (a "big guard") Brewer - too competitive, always a spot for tough competitive guys. Harrell - GOON! Long, active, and athletic. Winner! Selfless. Capella - improving, but not quite ready just yet. love him though. Terry Thornton Dekker Splitter End of the day I want guys on the team that care about winning and do not mind grinding. Taj Gibson is a warrior! Mcdermott is super smart, savvy and provides elite spacing. Mcdermott real position is SG but can definitely also play the SF, I would love to see him on the court beside Harden. Schroder is just an ELITE level PG. Schroder is 100% a championship caliber lead guard, and a Schroder/Harden backcourt would be unstoppable. Tiago Splitter would be someone I would love to add because he is someone you can also feed and allow to facilitate, his vision/feel and passing ability is high level. Obviously we lose Howards elite rim protecting ability, but Taj Gibson takes charges, blocks shots, and just plays with a motor that DH has never ever had, Taj is hungry. Taj is long, athletic, and mobile...would love his tenacity and energy for Harden to feed off and play with. Taj would be the GLUE, another glue guy for Ariza to play beside and feed off of also. Schroder is just that dude to me. Has a complete game. Very similar to Rondo but better offensively. A true dog. Competes and talks that sh-t. Jeff Van Gundy could maximize everyones potential, and we WOULD win a championship come June!
As a GM there's no way you make that many moves and expect to win this year. JVG will not touch this team and I don't think he's the right fit. We need a Mark Jackson, Mario Elie, or Scott Brooks.
I want thaddeus Young. Id totally trade lawson and jones for young and jack. YOUNG is so underrated defensively and he has a solid every day offense which will be consistent everyday. Nets get a star pg and a solid future piece in jones. If played right way jones can be a great piece for them also give them cap in the summer Nets roster Lopez Jones Free Agent Joe Johnson Ty Lawson The 2017 nets will have a solid lineup
That would leave us with Howard Capella/Young/Motiejunas Ariza/Brewer/Kj/Dekker Harden/Thornton Beverley/Jack/Terry
trade dwight for what you can get. his market value is tanking because he's once again showing HE is the common factor in all these ****ty situations. go to war with harden and keep developing the team culture and chemistry. make the right coaching move next season.
The player at the center of all THESE ****ty situations ISN'T Howard... but I'll give you a hint... the guy you want to go to war with - is the guy killing the team culture and chemistry... it'll all come out eventually...
1) everything starts with harden maturing. and for that we need a coach that will be a disciplinarian. and for that we need the GM to give the coach full control over coaching. 2) trade howard for a kings ransom while he's still worth something. whiteside and winslow is the best package i've heard. - howard/beverley/terry for whiteside/winslow/deng/anderson/mcroberts. we can release deng and anderson. 3) clear our guys who aren't working - lawson/brew/jones for jack/thad young/larkin 4) ariza/dmo for schroeder/sefolosha/thj. we can release sefolosha. whiteside-capela- young-harrell-mcroberts winslow-dekker-thj harden-thornton-mcdaniels schroeder-jack-larkin obviously i'd like to go with a youth movement and start over.
I think this team is built on a cracked foundation (Harden). I might do some medium-level moves now to try and salvage this season. But longer-term, I would give some SERIOUS consideration to moving Harden for a huge retooling of the roster. Two way players and defensive players. You can always find scoring.
