One of the most underrated players in big league history. Injuries and playing in the Astrodome and Dodgers Stadium suppressed his homer. Plus incredible respect to him for coming to MMP hours early to confront Milo Hamilton in the press dining room to leave the young ladies alone.
I saw Jimmy Wynn play at the astrodome on several occasions. I saw him hit homers. I went to middle school one year in Houston. Him and Joe Morgan came to our inner city middle school and played an exhibition basketball game. May he Rest In Peace
I grew up a Dodgers fan ... so gotta add this not as relevant, but this might be my most recited Jimmy Wynn story as a Dodger. Joe Ferguson cutting in front of Wynn for a throw to the plate in the WS. (they had planned it. Wynn's arm was hurting.)
RIP Toy Cannon. One of my favorite Astros. BTW heypartner, why did Jimmy Wynn change is number to 23 when he went to the Dodgers?
