That's awful...He's just saying what everyone is thinking.

Other than his Book of Basketball, I don't like him but to suspend him for doing what he's paid for is just idiotic.

They do this all the time.

I've listened to podcasts from grantland and they are often laced with foul language or slightly off color comments (this is not a complaint). Not sure what journalistic standards ESPN is talking about. Goddell is flexing his muscles and ESPN once again shows why everyone hates them. Cowards.

Also ESPN should look up what journalism means. Giving an opinion on the news is not journalism. The distribution of information and news is journalism.

I think it's a good idea. There is no room for cursing in professional sports. We need to start with the media if we want to curb bad language at the grass roots levels and professional sports. The rise in foul language over the past couple of decades has coincidentally risen alongside the same rate of people being jailed for crimes and the rampant mass shooting epidemic plaguing our country.

Did they suspend him for...swearing on his own podcast?

Guys like Teddy Bruschi, Chris Carter, Adam Schefter, etc. have been just as critical of Goodell. Why is Simmons the one who gets shafted for giving an opinion? Is it really just because of the swearing? That's pathetic.

This must be a work in pro wrestling terms to make him even more popular when the suspension is lifted.

So, he was suspended for language used on a podcast titled with a pun to a vulgar term.

I believe he was suspended for daring them to do so. It would have been ok if he would have left it alone on Goodell, but he got cocky.

    It's not for swearing.

It's for undermining the company and the authority of the company and trying to pretend that he is bigger than the company.

Also saying definitively that Goodell is a liar with no evidence to show anything is not great journalism. It's more that pretending his opinions are facts and challenging ESPN to disagree with him.
