Talk about the series here. Please no PBP in this thread. Unless otherwise noted all games are on CSN-H (for about 40% I guess).

7-18 Scott Feldman, RHP vs. Jose Quintana, LHP 7:10

7-19 Dallas Keuchel, LHP vs. Hector Noesi, RHP 6:10

7-20 Jarred Cosart, RHP vs. John Danks, LHP 1:10

I missed following them during the All-star Break.

It was nice to give some of the guys a break.

Once again looking down the starters list for today, and there averages.

I can remember a time, many times in fact, where the worst BA in the starting lineup was maybe .240 Now, we only have one guy above that :( (Kike I am leaving out due to limited AB's).

I know. Not new news. I am just trying to get a grip on how this whole team (Altuve excluded) could be worse than our worst player in many a previous year.

I used to think Adam Everett was terrible (.242 lifetime). He would have our second best BA on this team (again, Kike excluded).

Yes, I know, BA isnt the whole or best measure of a player. OK. But that is what you see on my webcast....

    .184 BA
    .183 BA
    .181 BA

    I think I need a drink.

Who still uses BA as a measurement?

Chances are good that if you hit .180 you suck.

Yea, there are a lot of advanced stats that people love to look at, but man, can people really look at guys "hitting" .180 and explain that they are good?

    Point taken.

But let me ask you this: Would you consider any of the guys hitting .180 something good offensive players?

If you hit .180, the chances are 100% you suck.

Feldman hasn't gone deep in games, but since coming back from the injury this is 6 out of 7 starts that have been pretty dang good. Too bad he isn't our #4 starter, or something like that

You know, I've admittedly been annoyed by most of your Debbie Downer posts lately, but it's hard to argue against this. This might actually be the lowest point in the collective Houston sports history. Astros suck. Texans were 2-14. Rockets are in the midst of a bad offseason and were knocked out of the first round, again. Even the Dynamo suck. There's nothing enjoyable about being a Houston sports fan right now.

But they're from (close to) dallas. Sucking is in their blood.

Just saying, there are way worse stories out there for clubs than the Astros.

Astros: rebuilding is going well with talented prospects reaching the majors. Altuve+Keuchel have been pleasant surprises.
Texans: picked by some to win the Super Bowl last year before flailing under Schaub and Kubiak. Starting the season with a new coach and the most talented player in the draft.
Rockets: Finished 4th last year in the 1st year of Howard and Harden playing together. Very young team with players with the potential to break out.

The Rockets are a relevant team, the Texans--we don't really know yet, and the Astros will be good in a couple of years. Things are not that bad, despite the various negative stories coming out.
