Hope keeps people going for the next day. Sometimes times are so dark, that's all you have is hope that the next day things can be better. It's not useless at all.

If we had a crappy GM...we'd have no hope.

With our GM who is always looking to make moves we can have some hope, some faith that Morey is tossing and turning with dreams of pulling yet another rabbit out of the hat.

"Legacy" probably means "money." And I don't think there is anything negative about Melo wanting that money if that's what the market is willing to offer him. Dude worked hard to become as good as he is.

His dilemma is that NY can pay him the 5 year full max, but has little flexibility to add talent while Chicago has a good roster but can only pay him half that amount unless Gibson, a big part of that "good roster", is traded for no $ in return or even NY agrees to a S&T.

He's trying to see if there are ways to improve either of the alternatives-- thus the reports about him trying to help recruit Gasol to NY, something that would make the NY option better. Now, I am suspecting (just a theory) that Chicago chasing Pau might be something that would allow them to trade away Taj for cap space while maintaining the talent level. We'll see.

I may not understand the situation correctly... But...

    - LA has tied up their cap space with Lin, Swaggy and Jordan Hill.
    - Chicago's cap space is likely going to Pau

Seems commonly accepted that the decision was between LA, Chicago and NY. So, what is left for Melo to decide?

Yep. Just like Bosh, Melo is choosing family and money over competing for championships. I understand him making that choice, but disappointing.

Well there goes our Mirotic dreams. Maybe Chicago needs to get rid of Boozer for Pau? Dunleavy, Boozer and Gibson would probably do :-/

Chicago still has to clear cap space. Their best course is to amnesty or trade Boozer.

    So the debate is:

    $16+ million down the drain

    Vs

    Trading picks and/or Mirotic

Well, I hope for our sakes it is Mirotic, but I don't see giving him up to pay Gasol. I see Gibson as a more likely candidate. In fact, I'd take Mirotic at this point over Pau. I can't see it happening. Well no Melo, no Lowry, no Bosh, no LBJ.
