They have the best record in the NBA and are currently on a 10 game winning streak, yet they are hardly even talked about. I wish people would stop overlooking them, let them be the favorites so we can crush them!
what's to talk about? they've been doing the same thing for a decade, so everything has already been talked about
well when ESPN finds 30 minutes of very hour to talk about the Knicks and the Lakers I find it dumb that they can even mention the Spurs on track for their best season since 2005-06
if you're questions are aimed towards the media then they need to attract viewers and their fanbase is WAY bigger than the spurs. no one is going to tune in to listen to people talk about the spurs outside of texas
Im talking about the media but also the public... like I can't recall there being even one Spurs thread in the dish this year.
TNT/NBA TV crew usually always gives love to the Spurs. But at this point there isn't really much to talk about them. They're always in contention and consistent lol.
Because the Spurs are not a "sexy" team; widely considered "boring". And they're rarely in the headlines for the wrong reasons. No drama? Networks don't care, ha. I think the last time they were in the headlines was Tony Parker and his hand gesture thing(?), Tim Duncan possibly being gay(though I think that was more of an online thing, rather than something ESPN, CBS, etc would pick up), and Tim and Tony holding fake guns to a fake Joey Crawford at Halloween.
NBA is marketed around stars. The Spurs most exciting star is a foreigner and their American star is too dunkan-ish.
They are truly the NBA "turtle" and the Clippers are now the "hare." The turtle plods along, but some how, some way ends up at the finish line in first place. They are likely going to win the West; really hard to believe and they are no easy out in the playoffs.
It's kind amazing that people probably can't even name more than three players on the spurs team. Yet they're winning again. You'd imagine a top team would have more than three solid guys who get recognition.
The spurs never make themselves available to the media. Not even local media. You never hear spur players or coaches on local sports shows talking about their season. You see how Pop acts when he is on TV at the end of quarters. So if you never hear from or about the players then you don't know anything about them. Hard to talk about a team that runs itself so secretly. If a spur player does something bad. The media here will sweep it under the rug and never bring it up again. They keep everything in house and under wraps. So whenever spur fans start complaining about the media never talks about them or give them credit, I just ask the question how often do your players or coaches make themselves available to the media during the season?
