Did you get confused and throw a fit when TCU event staff wouldn't let you in the Daniel-Meyer coliseum with your LASP? :
This would be a hilarious post. I enjoy this kind of humor. Too bad it doesn't make sense because I actually got into the UT-Kansas game. Nice try though.
Great article about Barnes and UT: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...nghorns-basketball-coach-rick-barnes/5264209/
It was a bad game. Marcus Foster was unstoppable, and we committed too many turnovers and generally played bad defense. We don't have enough shooters to come back from a large deficit. At this point, the most important thing is getting Holmes healthy. We just need to play like we did on our winning streak.
Barnes is the kind of guy who will say "it's all my fault" while winking. Amazing how all it takes is one year of over-achievement while probably on his way out the door to erase his entire career of ineptitude. It's why I have mixed feelings about this season. It's a fun year to watch while expectations are low, but it's just going to keep him here who knows how many more years.
Really? "Entire career of ineptitude"? He turned a football school into a perennial tournament team except for one year where the NCAA sabotaged the team by suspending the starting PG. Sure, some of his teams have underachieved but few coaches would've done a better job in Austin. And let's not act like UT could get any coach they want in basketball.
That's one way of looking at it. The other way is that the one man team of T.J. Ford was the only time they made a real run at anything during his entire tenure. Color me unimpressed that the largest school in the state of Texas has been a perennial tournament team under his coaching. Being in the top 68 teams in the country shouldn't be the goal.
You must have selective memory then. They also reached the Elite Eight twice without T.J. Ford. One when Aldridge was on the team and the other where they lost to Derrick Rose and the Memphis team that doesn't exist anymore due to NCAA violations. Texas is FOOTBALL country -- not a basketball country. How many schools in Texas have reached the Final Four recently besides UT? Do we have to go back to the UH Phi Slamma Jamma days? Sure, they've underachieved in the tournament a few times but calling Rick Barnes' tenure at UT an "inept" one is a poor take and very disingenuous.
So, winning 3 tourney games 3 times in 15 years impresses you? In what world is that acceptable? You're satisfied rooting for a team that has no realistic shot of ever contending for a championship (which they don't with Barnes as head coach). I'm not. Let's leave it at that, rather than arguing where on the 1-10 scale of bad Barnes ranks.
They had a 6 or 7 year stretch where their overall tournament success was in the top 5-10 schools in the nation. He's had a couple of really bad years recently, but prior to that, the 2000-2010 run of success was unprecedented in Texas history and you'd be hardpressed to find more than about 15 schools that had more overall success over that period.
