We need two capable coordinators and a fiery leader as head coach. So what if Gruden and Cowher aren't the best X's and O's guys. At its core this is still the team that went 12-4 last year. Give them high draft picks in every round, and see what a real leader can do. From the top to the bottom this organization was flawed the moment it hired Gary Kubiak. We became a "nice guy" team, a team that lost close games graciously for seven years in a row. Loveable losers. Good teams kicked us around like doormats and Peyton Manning beat us over and over despite having much less talent on his team. Oh the talent was there on this team. We just don't assert our wills on games. We let bad coaches keep jobs because we are loyal to them. We hire within the family. We scratch Colorado St's back by drafting or trying out all their players, and in return Kubiak's son gets to be their QB. The whole organization stinks of nepotism. It's time to hire competent people. Make Morey the "consultant" ala Dan Reeves for this offseason. Fire Rick Smith and get whoever Ozzie Newsome's #2 in command is to become our GM. Then hire a leader at head coach, as big a name you can find without the ego to ask for as much say-so in the dealings of the front office as Kubiak had.
NOT Sumlin He's made a living the past 4-5 years using other coaches' recruited players, and then dash one his star leaves (Keenum). Watch him leave A&M once Johnny's gone.
The ability to win quickly without needing your own players seems like a plus for Sumlin, given that he'd be coming into a team with a mix of talented players. It's not like his recruiting skills are relevant at the NFL level, and if there's a good GM, then his scouting ability is not important either.

no my point is that he walked into a situation with some exceptional players. Manziel and Keenum. and then dashed once they left (if he leaves A&M after this year)
On the flipside, they were only exceptional under him - it's not like most people expected them to be great when they were recruited.
debatable Manziel looks to have a healthy amount of God-given talent. Keenum less so but still significant

I don't really understand the love for Cowher and Gruden. They've both been out of the league for a long time and haven't coached against the latest strategies/trends. While good coaches, there could be considerable rust there.
