He didn't suck. He played well, but Wood played better. I think the only reason for Deji to make it would've been as a return man but for whatever reason, the Texans didn't want to use him in that role during the preseason.

Boom shaka laka. I've been talking about how good this guy is all summer. I'm happy for the guy. If Ben Tate gets hurt this guy will keep him on the bench

glad to see wood made the team, so decisive when he makes the cut, reminds me of a lighter 2009 arian foster against the dolphins. Deji will catch on with another team and probably end up with 4 kickoff returns for tds and make the probowl. =)

The Texans may be better at picking undrafted FA's than they are picking players in the draft. It looks like 3 undrafted rookies (Wood, Jefferson, Bouye) will make the team. Meanwhile only 4 of our 9 draft picks may make any contributions this year. One has already been cut (Jones), one is on IR (Bonner) and another one or two may join him, and two will probably be at the bottom of the depth chart and only making the roster because they were high draft picks (Montgomery and T. Williams).

Yeah, kinda unfortunate(?) there. Hopkins, Swearinger and the rest...

    B. Williams - IR
Montgomery - showed up out of shape, not to be heard from since. (IR or will make the team)
    T. Williams - Will likely make the team; probably won't play.
    Quessenberry - See Williams, T.
    Bonner - IR
    Jones - Released
Griffin - Solid in the preseason; could see time here and there.

Not to write any of these guys off yet but...

    1 27 (27) Hopkins, DeAndre WR
    2 25 (57) Swearinger, D.J. SS
    3 27 (89) Williams, Brennan OT
    3 33 (95) Montgomery, Sam DE
    4 27 (124) Williams, Trevardo DE
    6 8 (176) Quessenberry, David OT
    6 27 (195) Bonner, Alan WR
    6 30 (198) Jones, Chris DT
    6 33 (201) Griffin, Ryan TE

It would've been absolutely foolish to let wood go... Dude played fantastic and showed serious potential in this scheme. Hard not to see Arian when he cuts and goes. And with the fragility of our backs they had no business keeping a guy like Karin simply b/c he is serviceable as a special teamer... That was terrible reasoning. Odds are our ST will be terrible with or without him.

Glad to see them reward the guys who played their tails off and earned it. This team is scary deep IMO.

They may have whiffed in the 3rd & 4th rounds on Williams , Montgomery and Williams (still to be seen if any of the above work out) , but many are very high on Quessenberry & Griffin , not to mention they nailed the first two picks with Hopkins (Rookie of the year candidate IMO) & Swearinger who's exactly what the ass end of that defense needed.

Add in UDFA's Jefferson , Wood and Bouye .... they had a successful offseason despite pissing away the mid round picks.

OMG you're like the smartest guy on the interwebs

I don't think it means he sucks any more than Wood played well enough to make the team and they went with the less expensive option. He seems to fit the zone blocking scheme well.

I liked Roc but he was hurt his rookie year and while I didn't think he did that bad his sophmore campaign he must have done something in practice or that I missed that made it that he never saw the field outside of the Titans game much. This training camp could have been his stepping stone, as I don't think McCain is built to handle the slot full time but that first preseason game was rough and given all the hype/talk and performances by Bouye in the first few games, plus Harris while making mistakes still making plays at the CB position, the writing was on the wall.

Hope he makes it elsewhere preferably outside the division and conference if possible.

They say Tuggle was moved from OLB to ILB and the coaches are high on his intelligence and work ethic. Dobbins should be worried if Sharpton or none of the rookie OLB they drafted are put on IR because he has had a quiet camp outside missing either OTAs or mini camp. If Tuggle makes the squad someone has to go and he is probably on the bubble.

Yes Cierre Wood! As a Notre Dame fan, it has been awesome to see Jack Cooley and Cierre Woods playing so well with our Houston pre-season teams, especially after nobody has given them a chance to make it at the next level.

Credit to Smith for finding excellent and serviceable backs that fit our system. I really was a fan of both the Dennis Johnson and Cierre Wood post draft signings. And I am glad on how things panned out with one of them. Personally, Ben Tate may have a terrific year, but he is most likely gone after this season. Arian Foster may still be Mr. Consistent, but the miles are starting to add up. And it is always excellent to have depth in the back field. Deji Karim reminds me of last year's Trindon Holliday; think he makes it but any signs of f'ups and he may get cut mid season...
