I believe the astros salary dropped to less than 13 million. 50 players in the MLB make more than that.

I've been a supporter of the total rebuild from day one, actually from well before we started it.

I will say though, although i'm ok with the return we got for Bud, I was hoping that the veteran dump for prospects was over after last year. We have acquired a tremendous amount of minor league talent which is awesome . . .but it's only awesome if it all stops at some point, and we start to think about the big league team

I don't know when the "right" time is, but I do think we will be in the running for the top pick again in 2015, I hope not, but don't see significant reason to not think we will be

I don't see anyone that we should be spending money on instead, but still that is pretty embarassing lol. I would be pissed if I was an owner of one of the other 29 teams and we get revenue sharing.

Props to Luhnow for having the balls to do a full strip and rebuild. I think Castro and Lyles are keepers, not sure on Altuve despite the extension, going forward and hopefully this is the last of the trades unless there's something smart out there like a Maxwell type trade. I'm pretty damn excited about this team. I can't wait to see that talent start to bubble up.

Luhnow is going to wait till he has only his guys. He doesn't want to have to thank Ed Wade in our World Series trophy presentation.

Has anyone else made the connection between Morey and Luhnow and how they seem eerily similar in their thought processes?

Crane has to pay his investors back, they made no secret of this when they bought the team. If he's to be believed, they will ramp up the payroll incrementally over the next several years.

    Springer
    Castro
    Singleton
    Cosart
    Folty
    DDJ
    Santana
    Villar

Just off the top of my head that's potentially 1/3 of a roster right there, Wade for all his faults didn't leave the place worse than he found it.

I'll tell ya one thing. If Luhnow was GM at the time, Springer would have never been an Astro. And I thank Ed Wade for that.

No, he didn't. Helps that he knew the Phillies system just as well as ours, and he got the players he wanted for Oswalt/Pence. Can't say the same about Bourne. Phillies have very little in their system right now.

More importantly, here is a list of Tyler Perry movies that grossed more money than the Astros payroll is worth:

    According to Rotten Tomatoes....

The Wolverine, The Conjuring, Despicable Me 2, and Turbo all grossed more than the Astros payroll last weekend.

The brilliance of this is that he's probably accelerated that payback faster than he ever expected....and at the same time, has completely rebuilt an organization's farm system.

Spare time, Leroy... I have lots of it today so far. Does that post mean that we should rename MMP the House of Payne until we have a payroll higher than his movies???

How will you feel if Springer flops?

What if he would have taken Jose Fernandez?
