CHICAGO -- Guard Daequan Cook has signed with the Chicago Bulls.

Cook played 16 games for the Houston Rockets this season before being released Thursday. He averaged 3.4 points in 10.3 minutes.

Cook was the 21st pick in the 2007 draft out of Ohio State by the Philadelphia 76ers before being traded to the Miami Heat.

He has also played for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The 6-foot-5 Cook won the 3-point contest at All-Star weekend in 2009. He has averaged 6.9 points for his career.

    Chicago announced the signing Sunday.

Does this effect the 3 million we owe him on the season or no?

    I think yes.

Let's say they pay him $500k (minimum for the rest of the season), that means we only pay him $2.5m.

    Fairly certain this is correct.

Thanks for the link. Cook was pretty bummed in the pre-season in OKC when Brooks told him he was likely out of the playing rotation (believe it or not, because of PJ3). After that and what happened on the Rockets, going to the Bulls must feel like a lifeline. Playing with effort on defense won't be a problem for Cook, but he must make shots when given the opportunity. If that happens, this is a great pickup for the Bulls.

The problem with Cook is he's way too streaky from long range.

Incorrect. Cook had cleared waivers by the time the Bulls picked him up. Meaning, the Rockets are taking a full cap hit, and most likely paying him most if not all of his 2012/13 salary.
