It's wholly irrelevant whether or not Harden was included into the mix because Harden's a great player anyway and his inclusion would only strengthen the argument that Lin's achievement is a strong sign that he is a very talented player. Now if Torocan had "conveniently" left out a bunch of journey scrubs, then that would actually make your argument worth something.
Just curious; what sort of play (or stats that match up to that play) would let you concede that Lin is a good player? Not great, just 'good'. Basically: what, in your opinion, are the statistical earmarks of a good player?
Obviously, a starting baseline of at least 15-10 that will grow to 20-15 in his second year. By his third year, he must be averaging 25-20 in order to deserve his superstar-level contract. Lin must also find a way to grow another foot in height so that he can back up Asik.

Wow, this is great. I just love how LOHs argue against LOFs with denials rather than real numbers. Lin was right, haters will be haters.
I like the aggressive attacking Lin. That's when he's at his best. Sometimes I see Lin just thought that he has to be a pass first point guard. If he sees an opening, just go in and score. Many times in the Knicks when he played last season, that he went through 2 guys and got underneath the basket, and shock me by passing to his team mate, which I guess shock the team mate as well, so they did not expect the pass and it sails out of bound. In that case, he should have just taking that lay up after all the work of getting to the basket.
It shows an upward trend that we assumed would happen once Lin shook off the rust and adjusted to his tweaked shooting mechanics. It's also relatively normal for otherwise talented young PGs to be inconsistent shooters early in their careers: see Ricky Rubio, Rajon Rondo, Tony Parker, Jason Kidd, John Wall... Not saying that Jeremy Lin will ever be in that class of elite PGs, but the list of PGs who've managed to score 38 points TWICE within their first 50 starts is very short indeed.
Apollo33 pretty much nailed it. Because it doesn't mean anything? For starters the NBA has transitioned into getting players onto the court younger so todays 24 is previous generations 26-27. Another, Lin's includes an overtime game where five additional minutes are available. Is that taken into consideration? Why don't we remove his overtime points and assists. It falliciously misleads the interprettor that Lin is in the same class as those other players when he very clearly is NOT. Jeremy Lin has been awful for this basketball team thus far. He is probably in the bottom 5-10 of starting PGs in the league this year. Seriously name who you think are top 5 worst starting PGs in the league and lets compare thier production. We now have what 20 games of Linsanity on the Knicks, 20 games of Lincrapity on the Rockets and a handful of other games where he has been very average.
How about you start by naming other 5 starting PGs in the league this year that got Lin's numbers last night? Even if it was just the regular game numbers?
