Based on what we have been able to see, here is my rendition: or the cap with the orange bill: I know it should say "astros" instead of "houston"... but I could only use the template from the 1965 away uniforms. The home uniforms had a completely different font. So this is more of the look, even though it says houston instead of astros.
since the uniforms are so generic/bland, i hope they do something crazy with the socks.. like Spoiler
We really cant even see the uniforms. We can only see the last letter "s" in Astros. It might not be as plain as the uniforms I made.
You can see the "A" a little bit. The thing I'm wondering about is that if they've been described as a "borrowing elements of the past with a modern twist", what is the modern twist supposed to be? From what we've been able to see, it looks very much like the 60s unis with maybe a slightly different lettering font and a little trim. The hat looks exactly the same but with an orange bill. Granted, these are crappy photos, but I wonder if the H-Star is going to be different at all. You look at what the Pistons did when they went back to their old logo. It's obviously based on the old logo but the changes are noticeable. If you weren't comparing it side by side with the old logo, you might forget that it wasn't exactly the same as the old logo. Same thing with Blue Jays. Their new "old" logo is very similar to their classic logo but is noticeably different when you compare it side by side. They're subtle, well done updates. I'm wondering if Toronto's subtle update will look drastic in comparison to what we're doing.
"Modern twist" most likely refers to a modernized "rainbow guts" version of the batting practice uniforms. Perhaps something like what the Nuggets just came out with.
If the rainbow comes into play on an alternate or BP jersey, does anybody else think they should put some rainbow seats in minute maid? Maybe just in the Crawford boxes or in the coke fan zone.
rainbow craford boxes would be awesome.. BUT i dont think they mesh well with the green seats.. if we had blue seats it would work very well.. great idea though..
You'll be 50% happy. Actually.... technically, you'll be 100% happy. Yes. Ever so-slight, but it's definitely different. And no rainbow guts. There're rainbows - but not on the guts.
So is it like a modernized H logo? Kinda like what someone mentioned earlier with the pistons and blue jays logos?
Can't believe no one saw the humor in this. Eiko Ishioka - Fashion designer famous for her work in movies like "Bram Stoker's Dracula" & "The Cell" (Won Oscars for both), as well as the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games Opening & Closing Ceremonies. Oh, and I almost forgot ....she's also famous for designing the current (and much despised) uniforms & logo of your Houston Rockets. RIP Ms Ishioka.
On NFL Mobile they have an interview with Owen Daniels, who I believe is wearing the new cap. The blue is REALLY dark, I almost thought it was black. The cap itself is pretty nice though. The orange isn't obnoxious and the white "H" on the star really pops against the darkness of the blue.
That wasn't the new hat. That was a old school Astros cap with a different color scheme. They have probably 20 different colors of the Star H hat out there.
