The fact is I'm a little bit worried about our WR's. I wouldn't mind adding a verteran like Stallworth or Gaffney to be our slot receiver behind AJ and Walter.

Martin dropped the ball two times against the Saints and made some rookie mistakes. I know Martin had a decent training camp, but I'm still not convinced. Holliday thinks he's special but his not, he is one dimensional. And where is Posey?

The only WR I have faith in (behind AJ and Walter) for the moment is Lestar Jean. But he didn't played a NFL game so far (except the preseason).

    What our your thoughts?

I've always though Belichick was a sharp talent evaluator. If he couldn't find a way to wring some productivity out of those veterans, I really doubt they're going to go elsewhere and be productive. They're probably not any more dependable than what we have.

It depends what they do with Posey or even Holliday if they go with a servicable vet.

Gaffney, better than Bryant Johnson. (As most are, he's not on the team anyway so that comparison isnt worth anything anymore) Gaffney should get picked up somewhere. If he joined Texans in the offseason, he'd either be a last day cut at worst or probably make the team. I don't see Devier Posey doing anything definitively ahead of a Gaffney peformance.

Stallworth won't lend anything of worth. Lestar Jean is this team's version right now.

Guys, we're not an expansion team anymore. They days of hoping to pick up other team's trash are over.

Our receivers are set. Martin and Jean are going to be great. AJ is already great. We have 2 great pass-catching TE's and a great pass-catching RB. Schaub has PLENTY of guys to throw to.

The passing offense is not hurting. Why does everyone want to bring in every WR that gets cut from every other team?

Kubiak's a system guy - you don't plug and play FAs here, unless they already have experience in it (Washington, Denver back in the day). Otherwise, you're looking at 2-3 weeks just getting them up to speed, and Kubiak's shown little patience with that.

Besides, Stallworth is washed up and finished. Gaffney's not outperforming Jean or Martin at this point, either.

The Texans should instead be scouring the waiver wire for DTs since Cody seems a bit shaky with back problems and everyone in that spot seems to be injured.

Be...be...be...because ESPN says we didn't upgrade our receiving corps, of course!

There is no way anyone should take reps away from Martin. Sure he fumbled twice but it was a preseason game. That's the best time to do it so he can learn and correct the problem.

    Re: Martin
I agree, I'm not deathly concerned when a speed/return specialist finds out the hard way you can't chicken wing the football at the level. Especially since it's preseason and he gets to have the coaches give him hell for it all week in practice. It's a breakable habit. Much more worrisome when a running back repeatedly loses the rock despite having two hands on it.

Unless some of our guys, namely Posey, come down with "mysterious" injuries, we pretty much know who's going to make the roster at WR and I don't think the Texans are going to take a roster spot from somewhere else to add one more.

I think Gaffney could be a good possibility. With the fumble problems last week, Kubes has to be considering a sure handed vet. With Posey seemingly behind in his development, it wouldnt surprise me if he is put on IR for the year and we sign a vet like Gaffney.

    1) Gaffney is hurt and hasn't seen the field for a few weeks.

    2) If Posey goes on IR, you know the Texans will just re-sign Bryant Johnson again.

You could argue that if Belichick couldn't find enough reason to keep them on the team, they're spent. Look at the back end of the Patriots' WR roster and see the unrecognizable names they couldn't beat out.

I'd focus more on the offensive line. And further down the road... QB.

Didnt the Patriots pick up the Jets "trash" in Danny Woodhead?
