I already undid it. Gasol for Scola, Martin and Dragic. Our cap space is still free, we don't have an aging softie who doesn't want to be here, we don't have an injured and overpaid offense only 4/5 in Nene, Scola gets a chance to regain some shine and we can ditch Martin for someone else. My only regret is it cost us Hayes.
Not packaging up Sampson to draft Dream #1 and MJ #2. The over/under on that one has to be about 6 more championships.
This is like when I undid the trade sending Horry & Bullard for Elliot. Which Bullard reminds us of weekly.
Which trade? Saying no to Portland (#2 and Drexler for Sampson). The Rockets could have had Michael Jordan and Olajuwon in the draft if we would have traded with Portland and given them Sampson for the Number 2 pick that year. We would have had a team of mostly all stars for 10 years.
Have we made any significant trade in Morey era? I forgot who did SF-Tmac trade - Morey or CD? When you play safe as GM and make insignificant trades, there are not much things to regret for. Barkley trade was fine... remember how Shawn Kemp and Sonics were killing us. We beat them with Barkley on our side. I regret the trade when Les traded CD for Morey.... CD made lot of bad contracts but he also made lot of bold moves. We had 2 championships under CDs tenure yet we were free to criticize him... good old days.
3 picks for griffen was the worst by far. Tmac played well, we gave up francis and cuttino for him and that is a steal! Dealing with Rudy Gay and Battier, if Tmac and Yao were healthy with a prime Battier, they would of won titles and we would never say that was a bad trade. It still is not a bad trade.
Moses and the BIG E are two biggies as far as TRADES Go. But when the Rockets drafted Rodney over Clyde, I almost threw the TV off the balcony. Many "national pundits" had him ranked higher, but we Houstonians KNEW. PSJ WAS IT.....all these questions posed about Clyde's shooting (Though Petrie helped Clyde there) and ball handling ..C'mon....Still gets to me. Clyde and Dream DID reunite/win that second title together though...so ultimately I chalk it up to cosmic fate.
sending olajuwon to toronto and The Houston Rockets sent Moochie Norris in a trade to the New York Knicks.
#1 I don't think Gay is a very good player, so I don't believe his impact on the Rockets would matter much... this is assuming we would have taken Gay, which has been reported as false. Second, at his current salary he would have negative total value to the Rockets. #2 Concerning Eddie Griffin, I should explain... I dont think that the Rockets would have gotten anyone that would have NEAR the impact Malone or Hayes had. Perhaps we get 5 years of Jefferson and maybe win a playoff series... but not anything like 2 of the top 20 players in NBA history. I guess the worst trade we didn't make was for Clyde Drexler after his 2nd season. I suspect we would have won another title or two.
Batum for Dorsey & Green Gay for Battier Jefferson/Collins/Armstrong for Griffin Moral of the story: Rockets should never make draft night deals.
