Opinion piece but truly breaks it down the best. The shady stuff that has just ocurred over the last week and the huge conflict of interest, the shafting of teams that did their job properly. I hope the NBA never lives this down.

There will be a book written about this when Stern is dead (I hope soon) and the GM's are retired.

I despise what Stern has done to the Rockets and the league overall.

    Makes me sick reading that.

Stern needs to step down for the good of the league.

Good write up from one of the most respected NBA journalists out there.

I'm still stunned at the brazenness of it all.

Part of me is still thinking "Did that really just happen?"

Woj is only good with the trade and signing rumors. His opinion pieces read like they're only after page hits or have an agenda.

Yeah. It was definitely more of an agenda piece than an interpretation of all the evidence thus far.

What I found most interesting: the article states that Demps was frustrated because everything he reported to the league would get leaked within an hour. This is offered as an explanation for why Demps may not have given the league full knowledge of the Clips offer. But that is the very thing Stern insisted was one of the reasons for killing a deal that had come to fruition: Demps had kept them informed in a general sense but Stern lacked details; when he learned the details Stern stepped in with the hammer a la Toronto and Stoudamire. Woj should at least acknowledge this.

I am totally with the criticism that the league operates with special knowledge whenever they do work for the Hornets and that Stern seriously screwed up by not giving Demps clear vision on what the direction of the team should be.

The nerve of Stern to make Stu Jackson of all people in control of these negotiations.

This is the same bum that gave Big Country Reeves a max contract and traded the unprotected first round pick in the 2003 draft (which became the 2nd pick overall) for the corpse of Otis Thorpe?

    Basketball reasons my ass!
